“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 29 May 2009

Just back from a two night break at the Hotel Doolin. Great hotel, rooms are large and have everything you need, they even give you slippers and robes, which is a nice touch. We ate in the bar on the first evening, which belongs to the hotel, we were not disappointed, great food and very good value, you will not be hungry after their portions. We stayed in the bar for the evening, they had music on. Staff were great, both Paul the barman who kept the drinks flowing !! and Deirdre who gave us plenty of tips on what to do. In general from the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for you. We ate in the hotel restaurant the following night as it was part of our package, and once again the food was excellent, to be honest we were both in a bit of shock on the portions and quality of food, we have stayed in many hotels in Ireland and the food in this hotel has to be one of the best we have eaten. Even the breakfast was great and once again the staff would organise any type of breakfast you wanted and plenty of tea and coffee !! Great atmosphere around the hotel. On leaving the hotel we both agreed that will not be our last visit to Doolin and the hotel.

myself and my boyfriend stayed in hotel doolin a monday night in may. I dont often post reviews on trip advisor but after my stay in this hotel i had to let you know about it.The staff were so welcoming and friendly and they also took our bags to our room while we had a drink in the bar.when we got to our room there was a bottle of champagne and bottle of wine waiting for us. The staff were so helpful they told us where all the sites and local bars were. The look of this hotel is modern but cozy.

The room was so clean spacious and the most comfortable bed. i actually could nt get over how clean the hotel was, it was spotless.

The food in the bar was so nice and great value. they didnt spare anything on your plate.

Also one of the top factors to this hotel is that it is bang smack in the middle of doolin and all the sites. the cliffs of moher is only a short distance away.

the locals are so friendly in doolin they would chat to you for hours if they could and the trad sessions were mighty even on a monday night.
i would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Hello All,
We had a wonderful weekend stay at Hotel Doolin, the rooms were lovely and spacious . The food was excellent and the breakfast was very tasty . The location was great just a few miles from clifts of moher , and all the towns . We loved the trad music that was on in every pub. Great buzz around the place. Deirdre looked after us very well and was just so friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back.

This is a relatively new hotel but it certainly ticks all the boxes. It is warm and inviting and the staff are uber accomodating! Deirdre especially added a personal touch to the whole experience. The rooms were stylish and comfortable and included all necessities which was an added bonus.
The surrounding sights are a short distance from the hotel, therefore making them accessible and hassle-free. The food in the restaraunt in this hotel was lovely and resonably priced. I will definitely be back!!

My hubbie and I stayed in Hotel Doolin for 3 nights mid-week over the Easter hols and the deal which included dinner on one of the nights was excellent value-for-money.

Upon arrival, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Although it was 3.30pm, our room wasn't ready. I cannot understand this common occurence in hotels when check-out is 12 noon (or earlier). Anyhow, she offered complimentary tea/coffee/cookies in the hotel bar while we waited for our room which thankfully wasn't too long after a long drive.

Hotel Doolin is lovely and ticked all the boxes. It's pub, Fitzgerald's is well laid out with an enormous screen for sports, a welcoming fire, a friendly barman, fab grub and generous portions.

Service at breakfast time was hit and miss - one morning, after a frustrating wait, we along with other diners had to 'nick' cutlery and cups from other tables after hot food was served without cutlery and coffee with saucers but without cups or spoons!

There were a few other negatives in the room; the light beige carpet was badly stained (and off-putting) in places, the extractor fan over the bath hissed constantly and when we had a shower, regardless of how we positioned the shower curtain, we soaked the bathroom floor!!

All in all though, Hotel Doolin is in an ideal location, offers good value and is the gateway to so many tourist spots

Gorgeous modern hotel in the centre of Doolin village. Pub attached to the hotel seemed to be frequented by some 'undesirables' so we stuck to the restaurant for our evening's entertainment. Food was shocking! Microwaved from frozen & poisoned with salt. When we arrived at the restaurant it was maybe half full. When the waitress came up to us she asked if we had reservations & when we said no she almost 'tutted' at us!
Ordered room service for breakfast - asked for it to come between 9 & 930. When it hadn't arrived by 9.45 we called reception & it was delivered straight away. But it was obvious that the tray had been sitting out since 9-9.30! Food was almost cold & the fruit was fruit cocktail from a tin! Not very impressive & they still charged the extra €4pp for room service even though it was 20mins late!! Staff never apologised & I felt that even if I had complained it would've fallen on deaf ears... Unless they radically overhaul their food service then I would not be staying here again. Surrounding area is absolutely beautiful so pick a better hotel & enjoy Co Clare!
