“Slightly Disappointing For A Premier Inn”
Reviewed 2 January 2010

As regular users of Premier Inns, we have mixed feelings about this one south of Lincoln.

The staff were very friendly and efficient, but it seems the hotel is in need of a bit of an upgrade. Our double room was comfortable, but didn't have any form of double glazing and as such we did get a bit of traffic noise from the road it backed on to (B1131) and also condensation was a problem in the morning, this being a particularly cold night.
Although reasonably clean and comfortable, the room wasn't actually very well valeted - hairs in the bath and a coin on the floor - which suggests it was only lightly cleaned, but ok otherwise.
The slight mould around the bottom of the shower curtain and the yellow stain that was evident under the toilet seat when lifted suggests that the room hasn't had much in the way of a refurbishment recently.

The associated bar was quiet by the time we visited (New Years Day). Most (local) people seemingly having departed after the "2 meals for £10" offer which ended at 18:30.
Selection of drinks were good and the staff were friendly and efficient.
We ordered food but were disappointed to find that both meals were somewhat overcooked on the outside, but only just about cooked on the inside.

Breakfast the following morning was of a different standard, however.
A nice quiet restaurant meant we were served straight away and the full English breakfast was superb.

In summary, the staff here are all very friendly and courteous, but perhaps a bit of money needs to be spent on the hotel, which is in quite a good position.

Every member of staff we came in contact with were extraordinary. Rarely do you meet hotel staff that are so pleasant, from the young man that checked us in to the breakfast staff I really cannot fault any of them. Outstanding

Our only problem was with the damp and musty smell of our room (21) The double glazed window was pouring condensation and when I moved the sofa bed the cushions against the wall were soaking wet, glad I didn't have children staying with us or I would have had to have been moved. My asthma suffered dreadfully, the damp smell kept me awake all night. Tip - insist on a first floor room. We were ground floor and the very end room against a north facing wall.

I still feel cross when hotels charge for wifi - we all know it costs absolutely nothing. When we visit cities in Europe it is free in every restaurant, hotel, cafe you visit. About time UK caught up. Some cities and hotel chains are better than others. Raddisson are an extremely good example.

I stayed at the Premier Inn, Lincoln whilst on a business trip. The location was a bit difficult to find but SatNav helped solve that one - driving through town centre from Newark in the north.

Ample free car park.

Hotel block with single & double rooms. As no single rooms available, I pre booked a double for single occupancy for £60. Good value for comfortable but basic room with TV, couch, very comfortable bed, ensuite bathroom with bath / shower.

Check-in dealt with very efficiently. Friendly, helpful staff.

Restaurant / pub on site serving good value Brewers Fayre type food. Excellent "all you can eat" breakfast for £7.50 - good choice of cereal, fruit, toast / breads, porridge, traditional English cooked breakfast with tasty sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, 2 eggs cooked how you want them, selection of fruit juices and plentiful tea or coffee.

Only problem - no telephones in any of the rooms ... unbelievable!

Summary - for the price, good value and convenient for A15.

after seeing the premier inn advert on tv we thought we would try one, we decided to stay at premier inn lincoln during the cadwell racing near by. We had never stayed at premier inns before so we didnt know what to expect, the welcome on arrival was very genuine making us instantly feel at ease. there was nothing to fault throughout our stay. The evening meal was brilliant value for money. a highly recommended hotel and restaurant!!

I stayed here while on business in Lincoln and found it very pleasant for a "budget" hotel. The rooms were very very clean and the adjacent restaurant was of an excellent standard. The staff made me feel very welcome and had some good banter with the restaurant lads. This place is just what i needed for my business trips and would definatly come back with my family to visit Lincoln on a leisure basis as this hotel is not to close to all the attractions but not to far away to be inconvienced.

We use Premier Inns alot and this was not up to the usual standard. The double glazing was useless at keeping the noise out from the busy roads outside, and some rooms get very hot.

We used the TableTable restaurant attached which was excellent.

UK people will be familiar with Premier Travel Inn- but for non-Brits they generally offer no-nonsene, budget priced but comfortable rooms and generally near to main roads.

This hotel was pretty disappointing for Premier Travel Inn.
Location: Most people arriving in Lincoln will come up the A46 from Newark, and it's not close to this road- and it's not in the centre either. However it is reasonably close to the A15 and RAF Waddington, on the South side of Lincoln.

Check-in: Staff were friendly enough and efficient

Room: Generally felt a bit tired- poorly lit, and some of the upholstery/covers had seen better days. Bed was comfortable though.

Bathroom: Some tired fixtures, and although it was clean, there was a slightly unpleasant smell of damp that couldn't be got rid of.

Food: Brewer's Fayre pub (part of a chain) adjacent, but I didn't try it.

Would I stay again? Unlikely- would try somewhere else first
