“Cocotinos revisited”
Reviewed 11 May 2012

To give myself a break after a frenzied week I decided to go to Lombok and visit the Cocotinos Sekotong Boutique Beach Resort for a restful weekend. I was there last year and had good memories from that new resort and was wondering how it was doing now. Arriving on a Garuda flight I was impressed with the new airport using sky bridges docking at the terminal. Because it is not used to capacity yet with many empty spaces, the interior could have a bit more color and sparkle as a welcome, after all you arrive at a beautiful exotic tropical island, which deserves better than a dreary monotonous look.
Arriving at the resort, I was pleasantly surprised with the changes since my last visit, a matured landscaping and a delightful semi permanent extension of the restaurant giving the feeling of sitting right on the beach enjoying the sound of the surf. There were also more items on the menu now and I was delighted to see the cooks daring to move out to the restaurant to cook for your breakfast besides the buffet. As a notorious bread eater I enjoyed the whole-wheat varieties. Oh yes, I was flattered that the staff that recognized me from the last visit and recalled my angriness of getting my fresh juice with sugar although it was my fault not telling them, so now they were asking to make sure it was right. As I just wanted a rest I did not go snorkeling although the weather was perfect nor did I venture out on a biking tour on the brand new bikes or trying out the new kayaks. The room and spacious bathroom were spotless and I enjoyed the little touches especially the local delicacies brought to your room as an afternoon.snack. Yes, Great resort commendable for couples and families who look for a quiet place away from the crowds of the

Dear reviewer.
Thank you so much for your kind review We especially appreciate your review since this was your second stay and you were able to enjoy the small additions to the resort like the restaurant extension on the beach. As you remarked in your review our location is ideal for those seeking a place to relax away from the usual tourist areas.
Thank also for your comments on the level of our service and the small touches like the afternoon tea being brought to your room and the good selection of food on our restaurant menu ( Which by the way has recently been extended to give a more varied selection).
We very much hope to see you again soon at Cocotinos. Thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor it was very much appreciated by myself and all of my staff.
Kindest regards.

I stayed at Cocotinos for just one night whilst I was on a business trip in the area. Its an excellently presented hotel but I did find some aspects of my room a little unclean. Cobwebs built up in areas etc. All in all though, it is really very pleasant. The restaurant is excellent with a great selection of western and Indonesian food and exceptionally good service all round. Will definitely come back but next time with my family

Dear reviewer.
Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. Apologies for the cobwebs in your room our housekeeping must have been asleep at the wheel that day. But we are glad that you found the rest of our service and the food at our restaurant was of a good standard. Please come and visit with us again we guarantee that your room will be cobweb free.

I spent 4 fantastic days at Cocotinos - weather was not great (rainy season) but the staff did everything to make it special. This resort is a great quiet place for couples or families who love the real Lombok and for people who don't mind to reside a bit further away from the more crowded touristy spots in the north west part of the island. The resort is located at a nice beach with some islands in front. The architecture is village style with passion for details - well built with local materials.
The bungalows are spacious and the view from the terrace is beautiful. A perfect place to stay and a good base to explore the beauty of the island.

Dear reviewer, thank you for your review of our resort and that you had a fantastic stay despite the rainy weather. As you remarked we are far enough away from the main tourist areas for those who wish it to experience the real Lombok. And for our guests to experience the tranquility of the area as you have done. We hope to see you again maybe at a time of the year when the weather is better and you can really explore the area and the adjacent island.
Thank you again for your review it was appreciated by all of us here at Cocotinos.
With Warm Regards, the Management of Cocotinos-Sekotong.

This is definitely a couples or family resort. It's quite out of the way, about 2 hours from the airport, I managed to get a cab from the airport for 300,000 IDR(around $30AUD). It's a very quiet resort and the staff are very accommodating. There is not much around the resort and you will tire of the menu at the restaurant very quickly, the prices for food and drinks are quite high for Indonesia. The setting is beautiful but unfortunately due to ocean currents a lot of rubbish ends up in the water surrounding the resort so we stuck mostly to the pool, also i didn't get 3g reception on my Indonesian SIM while there and the internet was down a the resort the entire time which was quite inconvenient as i had work to do. That being said it's a lovely place to spend a few days just relaxing.

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for your review of our resort. We apologize for the internet problem. It was down for couple of days because of problems with the provider’s satellite. Normally it is working well.
We will be implementing a new, revamped menu very soon to add variety to our restaurant offerings. Our food and drink prices are similar to restaurants of comparable standards in Senggigi, the main tourist strip of Lombok.
This is beginning of the season and yes more rubbish than usual sometimes get washed up, most of it being bits of drift wood, but we clean the beach every morning, sometimes twice a day.
We are glad whit a relaxing stay and we hope to see you again.
With Warm Regards, the Management of Cocotinos-Sekotong.

We stayed here for 2 nights and got the whole resort to ourselves! It was wonderful, the stafff could not do more to help us - they were lovely. We chose Cocotinos as it was close to famous surfing spot - Desert Point. We ate in the restaurant throughout our stay and I have to say the food was fantastic, some of the best meals we had while travelling in Bali/Lombok, and the prices were reasonable too.
The rooms were new and clean with huge comfty beds and an indoor and outdoor shower. The view was spectacular, we were lucky enough to watch the full moon rise one night, so pretty.
If we come back to Sekotong, we will definitely stay here again.

Dear reviewer,
Thank you for taking the time to do a nice review of our resort. Our staff are delighted to have been of service during your stay.
Our kitchen staff are most pleased to know that you enjoyed your food so much. It is difficult to cook food that pleases everyone.
Our resort is located in secluded and serene part South-Westest Lombok. We are glad you had a romantic stay with us. It is because of the lack of air pollution, and light pollution that on a clear night at Cocotinos, we “bring out the stars”, and sometimes the moon also.
Do come again.

It takes a lot for me to rate this as a five star experience. Both Cocotinos Manado and Sekotong were superb.

I don’t need to go on and on in this review…read the others for details. You’ll not see many places with as pristine coral as this!

The food, staff and service were great!

Dear reviewer,
Many thanks for an excellent review of our resort. As a diver who also visited our sister resort in Manado, we are especially delighted that you enjoyed your stay here with us, so completely despite the different type of diving here in Lombok. Our staff are a naturally friendly lot and they take pleasure in providing a good service to all our guests. Many are from the villages nearby and they are proud to be working for Cocotinos which they treat as “their own”.
Please come back again with friends, the corals and the fish are waiting.
With Warm Regards, the Management of Cocotinos-Sekotong.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and loved the friendly staffs, nicely decorated room and quiet location. It was a perfect getaway place and a place to get yourself pampered. We missed this place so much especially the moment we got to Bali at the end of our stay (before returning to our home country).
We would suggest the Water Edge Villa as it comes with private beach and pool. You may have to give in on the quality of food but the service quality is almost perfect. The staffs are very helpful. Although the resort operated on a bigger scale (compared to the same one in Manado), you will still get your attention from friendly staffs including the crew from the diving school.I would highly recommend this place for honeymooners and leisure divers. The Odyssea Divers did a great job too. The service provided was good and personalized but at the same time, highly professional.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for your wonderful review of our resort. It was our pleasure to look after you and your partner during your stay with us. We are glad you found the Water's Edge Villa such a nice experience, recommending it openly. You and your friends came to us on a diving holiday after a previous visit to our sister resort in Manado. The diving here in Sekotong, Lombok is different from that in Manado. Over here the diving is gentler, with charming coral gardens and outstanding soft coral beds, unlike the unique wall diving in Manado down the sides of dormant underwater volcanoes. But our dive staff at Odyssea divers are just as attentive and friendly here. Miki Mori, our Japanese PADI dive instructor who was in Manado previously remembers you fondly.

All of us here look forward to your next visit to Cocotinos Sekotong . Please tell your friends in Kuala Lumpur about us and bring them along next time!

With Warm Regards, the Management of Cocotinos-Sekotong.
