In general we had excellent food at several beach resturants, not crowded and not too expensive. Nice place to start and end your vacation on the island.

The short trip with our large adult family found this place relaxing. The food and service at The Square was wonderful as was the grounds and obliging staff at the Sheraton. The beach was clean and busy with tourist and locals. No hawkers presented themselves and only one or two with jewellery and DVDs in the restaurants. Our cabbie said Lombok is Bali thirty years ago, probably. We definitely want to check out Bing Beach and the Southern coast another time. $42 Aud tax inward bound and 150:000 RP outward bound tax.

A rather strange, poorly maintained location that has quite a busy road running alongside the beach that disconnects many hotels from the beach and generates a lot of noise. The beach is not inviting to swim in - lots of plastic rubbish, surging water and dark sand. One thing that is nice is the beach does connect up quite a ways to the south so you can walk along the beach north to the point where Senggigi Beach Hotel is located (very nice grounds). Unfortunately the sea wall around the point is eroded so it requires some clamouring. When walking along the street south back to the hotel there is no official sidewalk, you are dodging obstacles constantly. The 'market' in many posts is just a few tourist stalls selling usual cheap touristy handcraft tat, so there is no real 'centre' of Senggigi, just a strip which is hard to walk along. Fine for one night. From what we could see the Senggigi Beach Hotel looked like the nicest place with a good cheaper option being hotel Lene which is right on the beach in a great location with a good restaurant and friendly staff. Prices there were about $25-30 per night, Id recommend the newer rooms the older ones looked a bit average but great location. Once cool thing about this place is a lot of indonesians from other islands also come here for holiday which mixes up the tourism demographic a little.

What a beautiful place to be. It's not as crowded as Bali. The people are very friendly and are very helpful. Organising trips out to the Gilli Ilands was easy, and we were able to have a boatman and boat for an entire day to visit the islands and go snorkeling for an astonishing price. Everyone who goes to Senggigi should do the island trip on one of the little out rigger boats.
