Since Villa Rosa only has a few rooms, you can basically book the whole place - and this means large rooms comfortably equipped, a large living room with huge TV/XBox and open kitchen, your personal pool (with very deep part), and sundeck chairs at the pool as well as at the ocean. The access to the water is easy during high tide (stairs), while the water retreats during low tide (no swimming, but strolling around). You can rent snorkel equipment, book your tours at Villa Rosa, and the staff is catering to all your personal wishes. Since the food is also extensive and of good quality, there basically nothing to criticize. The only downside (and advantage at the same time) is the location of Villa Rosa, relatively far off the main road. Besides, we were positively baffled by Villa Rosa as our very own place for a relaxing, luxurious stay in Cebu.

Our family of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids) visited Astrid and her beautiful B&B this summer.

Best things about the resort:
1. Beautiful Place - it's like having your own well maintained, and very clean vacation home! The view and the warm pool is spectacular!
2. Privacy - We were the only ones in her place, and the privacy was well appreciated.
3. Warm service - Astrid's staff were friendly, attentive and gave us just the right amount of space.

We hope to see you (and the amazing butandings) again Astrid!

Tip: Bring cash because there is no credit card terminal. Also, stay for a little while longer as this is a 3 hour drive from the Mactan airport

I stayed at Villa Rosa from 16 May - 19 May. As others have stated, this isn't a hotel, nor is it a BB. You really do feel like you have rented your own private villa when you stay here. I stayed at the Villa Rosa as I was transitioning into the country for work. Since I was not a tourist, I did not take advantage of any of the tours that were on offer. I did notice that there were many to choose from. I spent most of my time at the Villa working and relaxing.

I stayed in Room #1. It was a large room with a large private bathroom. The room did not have a tub; there was a shower only which was fine with me. The room had a comfortable european style king sized bed (two twin mattress next to each other in a bed frame), comfy firm pillows and lightweight coverings. The aircon in the room worked perfectly.

The staff at Villa Rosa, Gelyn, Shirely, and Rosa were wonderful! They were eager to be of assistance and enthusiastic. They were always smiling and welcoming! No request was too big or too small. They washed and dried my laundry (fee) and even ironed it!!

Astrid and Arnold, the Villa owners, were also responsive and accommodating. Astrid prepared delicious meals which were ordered from the Villa's menu. Arnold drove me to Carcar on my last day and offered to show me around (fee).

The Villa sits on its own propery and is very secluded and safe. Safety is ensured by the presence of two large dogs who come out to "play" in the evening. There is no night life, no clubs or parties. So if that is what you are looking for, this place is not for you. You must have a car as the Villa is in a very remote, rural location. You will not be able to walk anywhere. The staff is very helpful in making transportation/car arrangements for you. However, if you are looking for some peace and quiet in a clean, friendly place, then Villa Rosa is the perfect place.

I have a couple of minor suggestions for improvement:

1) It would be nice to have had an electric kettle to boil water in the room. This would allow guests to independently make coffee. Having said that, staff and owners were always available to offer assistance. However, having the independence to make a cup of tea/coffee would be a nice addition.
2) It would have been nice to have had add an extra towel and some tolietries the room. I only had one bath towel and no smaller hand towel.
3) Additional clarity on what is covered in half and full board would be beneficial. It is unclear what items are actually inclueded in "a meal" when paying for half/full board. Since it is not recommended that guests drink tap water, bottled water is required for drinking. Bottled water is freely offered, but there wasn't clarity on if payment was required for each bottle or only during meals. Having filtered water dispensers where guest can get glasses of water would be a nice alternative to having to pay for each bottle of water. It would also allow guests to freely get their water rather than having to ask staff for a bottle.

Although I have made some recommendations for improvement, the Villa Rosa is an excellent place to stay. My suggestions will just take it to the next level by offering guests some independence and clarity.

Villa Rosa is a gateway to Cebu South's Tourist Destinations like Oslob Whale Shark watching, Oslob Tumalog Water Falls, Oslob Mainit Hot Spring, and other great Tourist Spots in the South

You can book the whole resort for your private and relaxing stay. It has an Infinity Pool overlooking the Beach front. It has cottage where you can take your meals or drinks while watching the great view. The food is great and very affordable. The resort staff are very hospitable and friendly.

We booked 2 rooms there last April 18, 2014 with my family. It felt like we own a private resort. Since it has 3 rooms, you can book the whole resort for your private gathering.

The rooms are very spacious and clean. It has a hot and cold shower, queen size bed and very unique and elegant furniture and fixtures. You can watch a Movie or Television in the resort's living room with your family and friends. The resort is very relaxing and quiet. You can take a nap or read a book near the beach. You can even take a nap in a Hamak tied to 2 coconut trees. You can have a massage or pedicure.

The room rates are very reasonable with the luxury and privacy you will experience.

On the next day we went to Oslob Whale Shark watching since you have to be there early in the morning around 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to book a ride to experience a close encounter with these magnificent creatures. So it is recommended to stay in Villa Rosa Alcoy since it is only 30 minutes away from Oslob town. No need to be in a hurry when going there.

After watching the whale shark, we went to Tumalog Waterfalls in Oslob. The view was great and going there was easy because the road is good.

Villa Rosa is definitely a Gateway to Cebu South's tourist destinations.

My family enjoyed our stay in Villa Rosa. The resort is highly recommended.

Stayed here for a week in order to get out of the ‘tourist ghetto’ at the resorts on Mactan and to see more of the Island. The villa is in Boracay, about 2 1/2 hrs away from the airport and is close to the “swimming with whale shark” encounter in Oslob which was the highlight of our trip to Cebu.
As others have said, it is not really a hotel. We rather perceived it as having rented our own private luxury villa with pool by the sea (their third room was empty) that comes with staff who offer all kind of services such as cooking, massages, laundry and tours/transfers at very reasonable fees. The owner/manager achieves this by employing people from the nearby barangay (village) and using local produce, also supporting the local community. She lives in the opposite wing of the villa and makes sure everything is in order and plan your day. (My wife commented that ‘the place 'has a German standard of cleanliness’). All meals and activities could be tailor-made to our requests.
Apart from the pool, our kids liked the snorkeling lessons (fee) at the reef in front of the villa, the Wii console with lots of games (free) and the video collection (free).
As the regular driver was back in his hometown for the holidays, the owner’s son drove us and gave valuable insights into the life on Cebu,
Overall, I would very much recommend to villa to families or small groups who are looking for a quiet and ‘custom-made’ holiday experience in Cebu and may also want to see a bit more of the island than just the airport and the large resorts on Mactan Island. However, it is definitely not a place for young people looking for nightlife or a bar/club scene.
For us it was 5/5 stars. Thanks Astrid and Arnold.

My family and I went to Astrid's place on a Sunday, 15-Dec 2013. The place is pretty exclusive and we had a bit of fun and challenge finding the place. Astrid and her son, Arnold has been really helpful and Arnold even offered to bring us to their place. When we finally went to their place, we were greet with a great staff and Astrid who has been a very good host from the first day onwards.

The place is really great, with a pool for your own. The sea is just a few meters away, and the "pink ladies" are on your beck and call anytime. They cook can cook up a storm and they offer you the best of a 5-star hotel stay on a beautiful seaside house.

I will not hesitate to stay again with them, if time permits. Astrid and Arnold, thank you so much for hosting us!

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and the bathrooms are great. If you are a family, I suggest you get the 2 ro...
