My husband and I spent four nights at the Howler House. If you want to get lost for a while to relax and enjoy the natural beauty around you, this is the place. The monkey family was entertaining and only howled one night during our stay. I recommend that you arrange to have Tony pick you up from the airport. He took us through the village and let us shop for groceries before we got to the house. We made tour arrangements through the Black Orchid. They will pick you up at your request. You will be in the middle of nowhere, but you will find the people warm and genuine. A hot water heater has been installed, so you can enjoy a hot shower. If you like the outdoors, you will enjoy staying here. There is wifi, but don't expect a TV or a McDonalds nearby. Expect to walk a little if you want to leave the house. Expect to hear the rain on the tin roof. There are only screened windows, so if the monkeys are howling, you will hear them. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We enjoyed our stay.

“Great Place”

We stayed here for a part of our honeymoon! My wife and I had a wonderful time, we had absolutely no problems, felt at home, and safe. The managers are very friendly. Booking was easy with the owner Erika, she's very nice and keeps in touch if you have any questions.

Waking up to monkeys climbing in the trees while looking out the bedroom window was amazing! The river is beautiful, an orange iguana stopped by for a while, a small shy croc was in the pond. We saw the croc only once when the driver Tony tossed in a piece of chicken, so we could see. They're extremely shy towards people so you don't have to worry.

Getting to and from The Howler House is easy, it's somewhat central to drive to surrounding places, like Altan Ha is close by. Coming from or going to the airport is a short drive. If you asked anyone they'll give you directions, people are friendly in the village and wave as you drive by.

It rained two nights and we slept like babies. We liked to think of the shower as refreshing than cold, but they'll have hot water very soon. Its a nice showerhead, tiled, and the water pressure is fine. Honestly we found it to be a romantic place to stay. Don't hesitate to try all the local treats or food stands, we ate awesome while there. All organic fresh veggies and fruit. We didn't want to leave.

Thanks Erika and Staff!
Kevin & Wynter

If you don't care for AC and hotwater, this is the ideal place to stay.
Howler Monkeys 30ft from the porch ( the Boom Family we named them, 1 male , 2 females, 2 tiny babies)
A lonely 6ft croc cruising the river in front and iguana's sun bathing amongst the trees downstairs.
Its 1/3 cheaper to rent a vehicle from the airport than joining the tours the Black Orchid down the road has to offer, the use of their bicycles is also not a given, we asked and they wouldn't hear of it.
Take lots of bug spray and coils to burn, also get some Raid for flying insects to spray inside before going to bed incase a couple of Mozzies slipped in when opening and closing the doors.
Take light weight quick drying clothes, long pants ( zip offs become shorts) and long sleeve shirts for your tours, pretty much every where you go there are bugs.

“Amazing views of Belize”

The howler house gave me a beautiful view of a beautiful country. Most of the windows are screens so I felt like I was always outside. The fresh breeze and ceiling fans kept the temperature comfortable. The porch is brilliant. It's a great place to relax and listen to the jungle. There is a family of howler monkeys that provided hours of entertainment. The emerald green river is very soothing. Burrell Boom village has simple stores, a fruit stand, and a few resturaunts where I was able to get the basics. I found the people very friendly. The Black Orchid staff members were very accomodating. There is a phone in the house and you can call them for help with anything. They helped me schedule a tour of Altun Ha that turned out to be fantastic. The food is pretty good too, a filling meal is about $10US. Last, but not least, Erika is a cool person and great host. She gave me a tour when I arrived and showed me around the village. She introduced me to her land partner, Tony who is an awesome guy as well. Erika's howler house is a great place to base your Belize adventures. Cheers.

“Exceptional setting”

Let's be clear: you are in the middle of the jungle and not at the Ritz. That being said, management has done their utter best to bring you as much comfort as can be expected. Situated beside the Black Orchid Resort, Howler House is perched 14 feet high in the jungle canopy beside the Belize River. The Howler monkeys traipse through the overhead every day on cue. Lizards, iguanas and crocodiles make their daily parade. All species keep a respectful distance as all know their proper territorial adventure. What the visitor can expect is an experience unparalleled anywhere else. The house has a 12' deck that surrounds the entire 400 sq. ft lodging and I spent most of my time there using good wifi, reading and engaging all my senses in a remarkable jungle experience. This is a rustic setting but it is appointed with the best that Belizean circumstances allow. And the village of Burrell Boom is one of the cutest, most delightful and friendly little towns you will ever experience. Highly recommended for anyone with an adventuresome spirit.

“Howl with the Howlers”

If you are looking for a place to begin, end or make a base for your adventure trip to Belize, the Howler Tree house is the place to be. You literally sit in the jungle trees on the banks of the Belize River. This jungle tree house will not disappoint you. It is spacious, in first rate condition and provides the privacy of your own secluded oasis but also has the convenience of a resort as it is associated with nearby Black Orchid Resort. So if you want to dine and have excellent food or sit by the pool, the resort staff will more than accommodate you in prompt and kindly service.

Erika is a wonderful host who not only provides a luxurious tree house, but also makes sure you are picked up and delivered where ever you need to go. There are cave tours, tubing, zip lining, and Mayan ruins close by as is Caye Caulker for the best snorkeling in the world. But what makes this property stand out is the connection to the jungle: whether it's listening to the roar of the monkeys at twilight, hearing the splish splash of gators and critters below you in the river, or watching the colorful and very large Iguanas run over one another, you will not be disappointed!!! So go howl with the howlers!!!
