Couldn't fault the service, the prices of the food and drinks, or the quality. If the weather is good, The Rising Sun gets really busy, so if you are staying here and arrive after a long journey in good weather (as I did) you will have a problem parking.
My room was at the front with fabulous views over Bishops Cleeve and onto the Malvern Hills. The trade off to this could be some road noise and noise from people sitting in the gardens.
I would best describe the room as 'dated', whilst clean, it is clear that the furnishings are getting on a bit. The bed was comfortable. but as a previous reviewer has mentioned, the bottom sheet is too short for the bed, which was a little odd. The bathroom was clean, but again could do with freshening up. You come expect (rightly or wrongly) as small shampoo and shower gel in your room (a recent stay at a Travelodge proved the point). My room had hand soap only.
If you are paying the fully refundable rate, you may expect more than what there is, otherwise, you may choose to suck it up and enjoy the views on a late sunny afternoon and have some good food and drink at fair prices.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our establishment, I am extremely pleased to hear that most of your stay with us was to your liking. The Team at the rising sun pride themselves on their excellent customer service skills, so thank you for commenting on their hard work.
The Rising Sun tries to offer the best value on food and drink in the area as possible, and our themed nights are a big hit on wednesday with our Curry and Quiz nights, thursdays for our Sizzling nights and friday's for our Steak nights. This gives customers a great range of food to choose from.
In regards to your comments about the room, we have updated our linen so it fits the beds in the correct manor. We have also included shower/shampoo gels into our bathrooms to give guests a better standard of service and more homely feel for when they stay with us.
I would have to agree on your comments about our stunning location, as we are aptly placed along the cotswold way with great views overlooking the malvern hills.
Myself and the Team at the Rising Sun look forward to seeing you again soon.
Kind Regards

The services / staff where excellent if not too good! Too fast with questions but overall the food was ok to good not fine dinning but reasonable value for money and specials as a vegetarian were I usually struggle the veggi paella was really good.
But must agree with a previous review the place is due for a refit the tables are shabby and the chairs don't match! Too much if a Mitch match!

It is what it is, but I don't think £105 for a night is fair at all - and this doesn't include breakfast! This place is run down, and more like a guesthouse than a hotel. Shabby, but not chic!
Our first room was just awful! Noisy and a little wiffy! Luckily and gratefully we were able to move to a better room at the same price! But there was an issue with the sheet not fitting the mattress - why? And the mattress wasn't that fresh so not nice at all.
The place isn't horrendous, but it's more like the kind of hotel you'd stay in on a stag do if that makes sense!
The room was clean, and bathroom although dated was clean and usable.
We didn't try breakfast, and the room we had was quiet so not a bad nights sleep.

First of all can I make it clear that this is a review of the restaurant only. I have been coming to the Rising sun for 14 years and generally have always been pleased with the quality of the food however something has changed ! On my recent visit I was informed they had changed their menu, however it is not only the menu they have changed. They have changed their suppliers and methods of cooking. For instance the steak and ale pie has moved from being really good to what appeared to be a mass produced pie with no meat in it that had been micro waved. How do I know well I sent it back once for being stone cold in the middle. So I will sadly be looking for other options when a good quality pub meal is required

Room Tip: If you want to stay here eat somewhere else

We stayed here because we were going to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and all of the town centre hotels were fully booked. We got lucky! The Rising Sun is basically a good pub / restaurant with 24 or so rooms. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked nice enough. We ate in the bar and the food in there was excellent quality for pub grub and there was great choice on the menu. The beer was good too. Our room was a bit old and tired and could do with being refreshed but having said that everything worked and it was very comfortable. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and we did not have anything at all to complain about. The real plus of staying at the Rising Sun is the location. It is in a beautiful area just outside of Cheltenham and it has the most magnificent views you can possibly imagine. You can see right across the Cotswolds and over to what I'm guessing was Bristol and Bath. It's amazing and there is a lounge area where you can sit and soak up the views over a cup of coffee. Alternatively you can enjoy the views from your room, from the bar or from the large and well furnished beer garden. We only stayed here because it was convenient but in the end we had a lovely overnight stay and plan to come back and stay here with friends when we make one of our regular visits to Cheltenham. The taxi service into Cheltenham and back was first class and only cost us around £12 each way. Well worth a visit even if you only come here to have a beer and take in the incredible views.

Thank you for taking the time to write our review on our establishment, I am pleased to hear we managed to fit you into our hotel for the jazz festival, and that your stay with us was as good as you say.
The view from our beer garden is exceptional and overlooks the Malvern hills, Bishops Cleeve, Southam and Tewkesbury. We are also situated in the perfect place to take a stroll along the Cotswold Way.
Thank you for commenting on our helpful staff, they take pride in the service they provide for all customers and guests whether it be waiting on tables to simply giving directions on routes to take for walking.
Myself and the Team at the Rising Sun look forward to seeing you again soon.
