This is my first review but I feel compelled to write it as I have had such a lovely time.
Set in beautiful surroundings Lord Haldon Hotel is a real treat . Not only does it offer a relaxing friendly atmosphere and an excellent restaurant (Nicola is a warm outgoing person who moves heaven and earth to make your night run smoothly) but it also has a business / conference facility suitable for meetings and presentations . I will certainly be returning both for business stop offs and also with my family and the dogs! Highly recommended .

It's the second time we have stayed here, and the the Hotel and rooms are great. The service in the restaurant is not. It seems they do not change the menu, so you have the same choice all week. One night we had to wait one and a half hours to be served with our meal. On our last day I ordered porage as normal and had to wait half an hour for it, I make at home in two and a half minutes.

My wife and I chose this special package as part of our celebrations for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. On arrival at the Hotel, set in magnificent Devon countryside, we were shown to the Bridal suite - a beautiful large room with a superb en suite bathroom and wonderful views from the windows - where a bottle of sparkling wine and a small box of chocolates awaited us. Our table for dinner in the main restaurant was most tastefully set, complete with a lit candelabrum and, for our three course dinner we had free choice from the a la carte menu. The food and the service were both excellent. Afterwards, we were served coffee with mints in the lounge. A very fine buffet full English breakfast was available to us in the restaurant on the following morning. At a total cost of £175 for the whole package, we felt that this was superb value. We will willingly repeat this experience.

Room Tip: The superb Bridal suite is part of the package. Pets allowed elsewhere but not in this room.

I booked the romantic night for my husband's birthday surprise trip to Exeter. After taking a somewhat scenic route, which was beautiful, we found the hotel. It took our breath away. We love historic buildings. Booking it was easy. With the romantic booking we had chilled sparkling wine and choccies in the room. The bed looked like another room - not seen one quite so huge, almost needed a compass to find each other!! The food was mouthwateringly gorgeous and the service at all times was wonderful. We spent a lazy afternoon sitting on the lawn in the sunshine, and then a stroll down the lane before dinner. Certainly hope to return and look forward to doing so. Not having to check out until 1100 was lovely, we didn't feel rushed at all. The scenery and view from the bedroom was stunning and before going home we found our way to the tower, which is not far from the hotel - by car, and well worth a visit.

Room Tip: The Bridal Suite was awesome.

me and my partner booked a last minute deal here as he was going to afghan a week later ... we rang them explained etc the lady on the phone was sooo helpful gave us an upgraded room and a really good rate, when we arrive the grounds of the hotel were beautiful ... not a lot i can say everything was just great definitely exceeded my expectations dinner was gorgeous my partner is very fussy when it comes to food and the chef was more than happy to give him what he asked for, our room was simply amazing! so modern, clean and very big! it was room 5. obviously i cant comment on the other rooms but room 5 is very good.

Travelling along narrow lanes we eventually arrived at this beautiful country house hotel.
The setting was fantastic and the hotel very spacious. The only disappointment was the breakfast. Poorly laid tables, waiting staff not very informative, breakfast selection very spartan and cooked breakfast poorly presented; thick bacon rashers folded over and as tough as old boots. What a shame after such a pleasant evening in the bar most comfortable night's sleep.

We were back with the family due to a bereavement.

All my family stayed and it's like putting on an old pair of slippers. Just feels so at home. Staff are great, hotel is located in a great quiet location and we love it here.

Might be worth talking to the staff before you try and find the hotel though as the Sat Navs take you on some very varied and interesting routes! It's quite difficult to find even when you have been there a few times.

The value is outstanding at times and so much better value than the place down the road I reviewed previously. (Countess Weir) Only thing we found this time was my daughters room was too hot (room 34 I think) and she couldn't cool it down even with the window open. Other than that, we had room 6 again and it's lovely. By the way, room 5 next door is the Bridal suite..you have been warned! lol

Room 6 is a huge room with a fantastic view over the rolling Devon countryside. If you stay, go outside at night in the dark and just look at the stars as there are no city lights nearby. In fact, there's nothing nearby, so go outside and just listen...and you will hear exactly that NOTHING. Maybe the odd fox or owl calling at night. Bliss.....

DISABLED?? All rooms are upstairs and there's no lift.. so maybe not very friendly for those with a handicap.

We will be back, of that I am sure. Thanks to all the staff..good job!
