We have just had our daughter's wedding reception at the Lord Haldon Hotel. Right from our initial discussions all the way through to the day we had complete confidence in Ruth Brown. She made our special day go so smoothly and the food and the venue were outstanding. She made us feel like we were the own people having a wedding there in 2013 even though they are incredibly busy and understandably popular. We stayed there for the night of the wedding and the rooms were really just so comfortable, welcoming and spotless. If you are thinking of a wedding reception venue, look no further! we know Ruth will help your day to be as special as ours.

Room Tip: Room 31 in the 2nd floor had a fabulous doble aspect view and a brilliant bed. From all the other gu...

I am often at this hotel for business meetings so I thought it was about time I put my fingers to the keyboard and let others know how lovely this hotel is. the drive to it is through country roads so take your sat. Nav but is definitely worth it. To wake up in the mornings to beautiful rolling countryside with dear running around and yet not too far from a city centre ( Exeter) which is no more than 45 minutes away.

The food and service here is excellent and I can see why the staff are so proud of where they work. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a special occasion for a night or two, make this your stop.

The meal was one of the nicest we have had whilst travelling around the UK. Breakfast was really nice as well, but we were under the impression it was included in the tariff, the reception staff need to make this clear when checking in, they tell you where the breakfast room is so why not tell you it's a cost, over our travels you are the only ones that have charged. Why is that?

Mr wife and I arranged our wedding at the Lord Haldon on the 9th of March 2013. Our manager Ruth was very helpful right up until the end, and no questions was too silly to ask. The wedding and detail of presentation certainly exceeded any expectation that I had.

The staff welcoming, food looked as beautiful as it tasted, and was certainly rather filling. Our own room and guest rooms were very sizeable, clean and modern. The countryside views of the fields and forests are the icing on the cake for this hotel! All guests had a lovely time, and were very impressed with the hotel. Worth every penny!

Myself and a friend had a lovely stay at the lord haldon on sat 9th march. The hotel staff especially the manager Ruth were warm and welcoming. The room with a magnificent view was very comfortable and spotless. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. All in all a very lovely experience. will definitely be back. Thank you.

Devil of a place to find but when you get there you're glad it's in the middle of nowhere. It's just so peaceful, surrounded with fields all around. If you get a room with a view you can see for miles, with hardly a house in sight. A lovely change to the noise and bustle of a city hotel.
Nice staff who seem genuinely pleased to help. My room (26) is an upgrade room with a feature stone wall. Again, a nice change from the concrete box rooms so prevalent in the large hotel chains.
Why not 5 stars? The restaurant seems a bit lacking in it's layout. It seems to be more a corridor room rather than a dining room. Quite strange really. But the food is nice and my waitress Vicky was a happy, charming young lady.

The hotel (as do others) have weddings most weekends so as Saturday night stay may not be as tranquil. Best to check if quiet is what you're looking for.

Would I come back tho this hotel? I have five times before!... and will again.

Room Tip: Room 5 is the bridal room so you don't get that! Try getting an upstairs outward facing room - s...

Arrived late at night in the dark , so views next morning was nice surprise , very rural in the countryside so if your looking for a near city hotel this isnt for you 4-5 mile journey into exeter , food and rooms were excellent, very narrow lanes on the way to hotel and a low bridge at the bottom of the drive no problem for cars or vans anything over 8'6" would be staff very friendly and as i say food was very good
