We were turned away at 2.10 pm on a bank holiday Sunday because we were too late. What nonsense, why advertise that you serve til 3 if you turn people away at 2.10pm.

The Packhorse Inn is in a beautiful village nestled near the bottom of a steep hair pinned hill. We were struggling to find a real pub to eat in and we found just that here.
There was a good variety of meals on the menu as well as a specials menu which changed daily providing extra choice.
The landlord made us feel very welcome and had an excellent knowledge of his regularly changing real ales.
All the meals we tried were superb, being presented well and tasting excellent.
If you're in the area please try this pub as you won't be disappointed by the food or the excellent and friendly service.

We ate here as a party of 13 (pre-booked!) and despite it being half term and the place being packed the service was exemplary.
The food could not be faulted and was served quickly and efficiently.
Ambience is always good here with involving hosts and friendly natives!
We shall return.
It should be noted that as we were a party of 13 and this was half term that our starters and main courses were pre-ordered.

We often visit this pub, as it is always a good experience. It has just got better with a great new chef who has a masterly way with food. His fishcakes and fish pie are superb, can't wait for the baby stuffed squid!

We came here on our last night in the lovely Peak District. The landlord made us feel at home. Told us we should bring the dogs in from the car. This was very impressive to us as dog lovers! The food was very nice and well presented. Great atmosphere as we'll. would recommend and return.
