“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

After visiting bustling Bakewell we were in need of a meal and a drink. We went off the beaten track and ended up at the Packhorse Inn.The pub looks quite small from the outside but it is actually very spacious with two good sized dining areas and a decent beer garden outside. The landlord was very welcoming as were all the staff as we entered. There was a fine selection of ales, bitters and lagers on offer along with wines aswell. Our food arrived no more than 10 minutes after ordering but please note that Wednesday is the first day of opening after the weekend so the menu choice was slightly limited. The food though was wonderful and fresh and a very reasonable price too.We will definitely be returning in the near future.

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We visited after local recommendation by our hosts from the holiday cottage. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly welcoming landlord. We were given beer tasters and information about the hand pulled beers which were delicious. We ordered food from a great menu and were served by very pleasant staff. The food was all excellent and very reasonably priced. We had an excellent bottle of wine and all the staff were very attentive as too was the landlord who was a natural. We had a window seat and the views are breath taking. The locals in Crowdecote are very fortunate to have such a great local pub and landlord and I wish it was my local! I hope to return soon.
Well done to you all and thank you

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

This is the best food around, the whole place is welcoming and warm and friendly. We were late arrivals and the kitchen was closed but the chef opened it up just for us and boy we were not dissapointed, the starters was fantastic and the main course just blew us away. there is 2 menus running, the normal everyday menu and chefs new A la carte menu. plenty to choose from so i don't understand the last review maybe someone has a beef with the place. mick, sharon and of course the chef are warm welcoming and great hosts. we will return again and again. Thank you all.

“Very disappointed!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Re-visited after dining here a few months ago, and have to say we felt let down. The menu had no new additions and the choice was quite limited. We ate at lunchtime and all picked different meals, and were then informed that the choices of 2 out of 4 of our party weren't available! We all agreed that the food was over-priced for the portion size and quality, and would have to say that we won't be returning.
