very nice the people and the hotel. The only thing that was negative was that we had to make a reservation for 8:30pm to eat. A little late for us and the restaurant was not that busy 6 empty tables. Other wise excellent. The Garmin got us to within three blocks, but it has good signage out front. We loved staying there it was rural setting, but it very very nice.

Room Tip: Try to arrive before 6 PM no elevator but only two floors

We rented a caravan on this site over Easter and we had a great time . The site itself is very well kept clean and tidy no litter etc. The area has a lot to offer for days out as it is central to most attractions in the area . The reason for only four stars is the lack of a shop on site so if you forget any of the essentials (milk cornflakes bacon ) or just a morning paper you need to jump in the car for a ten minute drive to the village . The hotel/pub is nice with a play area for the children to play while the parents can watch over them while having a cheeky afternoon pint !! We will be going again next year so that says it all really .

I stayed here for one night after visiting Portmeirrion. We were hoping fora modern hotel and it was ok. Check in was at the bar, which seemed to attract the attention of the people in the bar (as though they'd never seen people check in before) but the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a nice size with a comfortable bed. However it was all a bit average and bland. £80 isn't expensive for what you get, but it is one of the more expensive hotels in the area. It was ok for a night, the bar was ok, but was a little tired. Like I said, it was ok, but it lacked any style or character. Food was ok, again nothing special. There doesn't seem to be a lot of competition in the area which is why it can get away with being a bit average yet still be busy.

However, staff were great, very friendly and helpful. It's a decent place to stay but don't expect too much and you'll be fine.

A friend at work told me about this place and I thought they were a bit over the top about how good it was, but we booked in for 3 nights. You'd never know this place was here if you drove down the road as its set back in fabulous woodlands, but still only a few minutes drive from Porthmadoc and an easy drive to Snowdon. We stayed for 3 days and enjoyed it so much extended that for another 2 days. The hotel is a lovely old stone building with just 9 rooms. Ours was at the back and was fantastic with corner jacuzzi bath and walk in shower, huge comfy bed too! The wardrobe was bigger than some hotel rooms I've stayed in! The breakfast was delicious and choices included full english, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or kippers. We ate there every night except one and all the evening food was excellent too (reasonably priced and great quality) - the burger was better than the ones I had in the USA! The staff were all really friendly and helpful too and always willing to share info on local sites to visit. It is also a holiday home park (most privately owned). The homes are set in secluded areas around the grounds and people take great pride in their own plots. Best to book for the hotel restuarant particularly at the weekends as it gets busy.

Room Tip: We had a superior double which was lovely, light and spacious and overlooked the back of the hotel.

Stayed here bank holiday weekend was not impressed firstly children's play area right outside the terrace area of the hotel and caravans right next to hotel the picture of the hotel shows that it is in its own grounds No play area No caravans, secondly children running in and out of bar area.
Ordered a Latte coffee got half a cup the barman said it was the fault of the machine?
Room okay but not a superior room. Food ok.
Breakfast good.

This is the second time we have stayed here in one of their excellent caravans. Both times we wish we could stay for longer. Caravans are fabulous quality, the surrounding area is relaxing and picturesque and the people we meet are always friendly. The sunday carvery at the hotel is fantastic and has been a brilliant way to end our weekends.
We will most certainly be booking to come here again
