Thanks to Sam and the team at Penbridge Court and Barns for a fantastic stay. The photo's on the various websites do not do justice to this majestic property. The owners have covered every detail and then some to make this a truly luxurious break and we can not thank them enough. Every member of our party and Molly (our Bassett Hound) had a fantastic time during our 5 day stay and we will re-live the great memories we have for a very long time to come.
If you like complaining about noisy builders next doors, cracked tiles, poor décor, mouldy grout etc., then do not stay here as you will be disappointed - there is absolutely nothing to complain about.

“What a great place to stay!”

Each year we rent a large property for our ever growing family reunion. I can honestly say that the Penbridge Court Barn and cottages surpassed all previous venues by a country mile. Reached via a narrow country lane the setting is quite magical, looking out over a valley with a steam railway running though it. The property, is spacious and allowed each part of the family to have their own space and privacy when they wanted it. In our party we had five children aged five and under and despite typically wet West Country weather there was plenty to occupy them in the house. When the sun did shine there were trampolines, playhouses and a whole mass of outdoor games. The adults were equally well catered for with puzzles, games and more importantly full blown Sky packages. Whilst we were there the internet was poor, but Sky were upgrading to fibre optic as we left so this should now also be sorted.
All of the property was amazingly clean and very well appointed. Would we recommend this property to others? Definitely!

“A great family holiday at The Barn”

Following a visit to The Barn last September with a group of friends we knew it would be a wonderful place to stay for a family holiday. Our family consists of grandparents to grandchildren (4 & 4 months). The kitchen was appreciated for its size & equipment provided, also the lovely welcome basket ( particularly the biscuits)! The spacious garden with the child's climbing frame/swing, trampoline & table tennis were much used as was the hot tub. There are plenty of things to do & places to visit in the area. Our visit coincided with The Minehead Festival, the highlights being The West Somerset Railway Steam Train journey & The Red Arrows display when we arrived.
At the end of each day we gathered together to have dinner at the long table in the open plan kitchen. We also had some good food & beer in The Farmers Arms.
All the family enjoyed staying at The Barn so I am sure will be back in the future.

“Fantastic break, would highly recommend Penbridge Barn & Cottages.”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We were a group of 20 friends in our mid-twenties wanting a fun summer holiday in the country. We hired the barn and all 3 cottages for a Monday to Friday break and had a fantastic time.

The facilities were amazing with plenty of space for all of us to sleep, cook and sit around the very large dining room table, as well as entertain ourselves with pool, table football, table tennis, badminton, and of course the wonderful hot tub.

We would highly recommend Penbridge Barn & Cottages.

“Perfect location for a family celebration”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The location is lovely, the facilities - inside and out - are fantastic. You would have to be very difficult to please if you couldn't find something to entertain yourself. There is plenty of space inside and out for anyone who wants a quiet read (or watch the cricket/golf!). The kitchen is very well equipped with enough crockery to cater for an army and plenty of pans/cafetieres/glasses etc

We were a party ranging from 6 months to 75 years and we all had a lovely time, coming away relaxed and cheerful after a weekend spent doing pretty much what we pleased.

If there was any fault (and I'm being really picky here) - the showers in some of the bathrooms could be better and we had to abandon our walk to the Farmers Arms on the Sunday as we had neglected to take a machete with us !

“Great property - we would highly recommend it”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We had an idyllic family get together here to celebrate a 50th birthday. The following things particularly impressed us:

- The property was really spacious. Although we were a party of 20 (with lots of children), we had more than enough space. There were lots of comfortable places to sit and chat
and the huge kitchen meant that preparing meals was easy and sociable. The kitchen was really well appointed too.

- The gardens were beautiful and the children loved the large trampoline, table tennis, croquet - and of course the hot tub. This was in addition to the pool table and football table inside.

- The managers of the property couldn't have been more helpful in dealing with our questions and requests.

In short, huge attention to detail ensured that all ages were catered for, there was space for everyone to do their own thing together, it was really well appointed but homely - just totally comfortable. We hope to visit again soon!

“Doesn't get much better than this...”

What a place! We turned up mob-handed for a pre-Christmas get together with most of our 16-strong party not really knowing what to expect. What we discovered was not far short of luxury accommodation, situated in beautiful West Country surroundings. We had the main barn and two of the smaller properties, and the exceptionally high standard showed no sign of diminishing from one to the next.

It’s fair to say that before we arrived, we’d bombarded the owners with questions about, and changes to, our booking; demands for a Christmas tree, last minute pleas for Barry the hamster to be allowed to come along and the possibility of extra stair gates to stop the inquisitive natures of a couple of toddlers from leading them too far astray. All were answered with speedy email responses and our particular, sometimes peculiar, needs were met to the letter. Barry was given the nod and not one reply that we received hinted at the frustration that we must have been causing our would-be landlords. A fantastic service and such a relief to deal directly with the owners instead of going through a third party.

It only got better once we turned up. After a long drive through a dreary December evening, we opened the door of the main barn to discover a beautiful, spacious kitchen; a sight to gladden the heart of somebody tasked with cooking roast turkey and trimmings for the entire party. We had some culinary kit between us as there usually isn’t enough, but in the end it stayed in the car. The place has stacks of quality utensils, pans, crockery etc, and enough cafetieres to produce the volume of coffee required to gently coax eight or so people out of their hangovers and into the day. Next to the kettle was a stash of locally sourced tea bags and delicious biscuits, a jar of half-sensible instant coffee and a panettone just begging to be ripped from its beautiful Christmas tin and devoured. What had we done to deserve all this bounty? Well; nothing. The owners just go out of their way to make you feel thoroughly welcome and their efforts do the job wonderfully.

The rest of the barn is just as impressive and our excitement mounted palpably as we explored it and as the reality of the place being ours for the weekend began to sink in. The dining area boasting a huge, wooden table that seated all of us without any trouble made for a lovely, sociable eating experience. The look on the faces of two little ones bursting in on a vast sitting room featuring a tree resplendent in its festive furnishings, and a life size, cuddly Dalmatian won’t be forgotten for a long time.

There’s so much space that you could easily give the in-laws the slip if you’re there with family. Making your escape won’t lead to a compromise in the entertainment stakes though, as there are several TVs, a genuinely reasonable DVD collection (not just Sunday paper freebies), plus table football, pool and a wood fired hot tub - the novelty of which didn’t wear off. Bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and hot water was forthcoming at all hours of the day and night. The only thing we lost out on a bit due to the time of year was the sprawling, immaculately manicured garden, the selection of BBQs, and the table tennis/ping-pong/wiff-waff table, all of which would be a delight in better weather.

There’s no point in talking any more about the rooms and facilities as it’s all listed on the booking site. Suffice to say the place is stunning, has everything you need, is entirely child-friendly and makes for a fantastic getaway at any time of the year. We hardly ventured out but if you do, I suggest you go only as far as one or two of the myriad local cider farms, buy a few bottles and get back as quickly as possible to crack them open and enjoy the rest of your stay at Penbridge Court.
