I was lucky to get a room at this guest house as there had been a last-minute cancellation. I'd define this as the perfect accommodation. It's located just 5 minutes from the main road between Lochgilphead and Oban, in a very small peaceful village that feels much more rural than it actually is. There's a spacious, characterful guest lounge with a library of books and lots of comfy chairs. There's also a sun room with plenty of tables and chairs, overlooking the quiet village street. I had a single room which was immaculately clean (as was the rest of the place) with a modern ensuite with full bath. The room had all the necessary comforts and I had an excellent night's sleep there.

I was given a wonderful welcome by the owners on arrival and it was clear that nothing was too much bother. They were warm and friendly, checking with me to ensure I had everything I needed and to answer any questions. These are the sort of guest house operators who are interested in their guests and who seem to enjoy meeting people and providing a good service. They clearly care for the place and the guests, and have created a really nice atmosphere. Breakfast was good; basic full Scottish breakfast cooked well, with a vegetarian option.

The Kilmartin area is worth a visit in its own right; anyone travelling through the Oban area is highly recommended to drive an hour or two south (and stay at this guest house!) to see all the standing stones, burial cairns, rock carvings, iron age forts, ruined Carnassarie Castle and loads of ancient sites all within just a few miles of this guest house. The guest house has plenty of leaflets (and encourages you to take them) for details of all the things to do in the area. Highly recommend this place and I will certainly return.

If every B&B owner was like Ric we wouldn't need reviews! Very clean rooms with a very helpful and knowledgeable owner in a beautiful area of Scotland. A perfect combination! I would also recommend the Kilmartin House Museum cafe. Had two meals there and they were both very good. Fresh ingredients and well presented dishes all served by a very friendly staff.

We stoppped here for one night while exploring the Kilmartin area. We had the family suite - 2 rooms with a huge bathroom between and it was perfect for our family of 5. The hotel is charming, comfortable and exceptionally clean. Breakfast is a basic and delicious full English, with cereals etc.. alongside. The hosts are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The children rated the hot chocolate as the best of our trip - and they know their hot chocolate!
The area around the house made for a lovely morning walk. There are no restaurants in Ford - arrangements need to be made in advance if you'd like dinner. We hadn't so our host recommended the Kilmartin hotel for dinner and it was excellent too. The Kilmartin Museum has a coffee shop/restaurant but serves evening meals only at certain times of the year.

This is the perfect guest house for someone searching both a remote place but not too much remote. It is very close from Kilmartin and a 15 minutes walk from the shores of Loch Awe.
The service is great. You will receive all the informations you could dream of from the owners of the guesthouse.
Very very nice.
