I stayed there 2 years ago, now this time I took my family with me!!! AGAIN amazing food, hospitality, comfort, and of course the best view in Kodiak. Mary and Ron always go above and beyond in caring for their clients. The breakfast is the best ever available. I went to see bears at a remote camp but left some gear there so I could return and stay again until I had to leave the island, and Mary and Ron were very welcoming. I hope to go there again, and next time I will book earlier to make sure any friends can stay there before you get fully booked out next time! :)

We booked three nights here in early September. Ron and Mary Doubt, the innkeepers, are incredibly hospitably, and generous with sharing what to do in the area and sharing their history on Kodiak. We had wondered about booking the apartment versus eating with other guests for breakfast in the main house. However, the apartment was the only option available, and it worked out great! They had stocked the kitchen with plenty of different options so we could cook breakfast every morning. They even had a container of ice cream and a frozen pizza in case we got the "munchies." We checked in, shared a cup of tea and coffee, and settled in our room. We had a living room, table and chairs, small kitchen, and very comfortable bedroom. We had a TV, several DVDs, and material on Alaska. Heat was easy to adjust. We had a deck where we could see float planes taking off. Parking was never a problem. Our rooms were picked up every day. Mary and Ron shared their advice on restaurants they enjoyed and things we wouldn't want to miss. Check out was easy and we felt so comfortable. We'd highly recommend this B&B!

Room Tip: If you would like to be in a little more private spot, try the apartment instead of the rooms in the...

We stayed in the apartment at Channel View for three nights and it was a perfect home away from home for us. It is spacious with fantastic views of the channel. The kitchen was very well stocked for us and the hostess, Mary, was so helpful. Shortly before our trip the ferry we were riding from Homer to Kodiak was taken out of service. She helped us figure out the best way to get to Kodiak and even recommended some options for our extra day on the island. When we arrived she spent time going over a map of the area and gave some wonderful restaurant recommendations. And, knowing we were celebrating a milestone birthday, she provided a nice note and bottle of wine in the room to help the celebration. The ONLY negative is that the apartment was down a fairly long flight of stairs and lugging our nearly 50-lb bags up and down (up in the pouring rain unfortunately) was a bit of a challenge. We were warned of the stairs but under estimated them.

Room Tip: We chose the one-bedroom apartment with sofa bed. It's quiet, nicely decorated, with a great de...

My wife, son and I stayed at the Channel View B&B during Aug 13-19, 2013. On three of the mornings we were there we planned early activities (fishing and bear viewing) and didn't expect Mary & Ron to get up early to prepare breakfast (we were prepared to rough it with Cliff Bars). There was no way they would let us leave in the morning without eating something first. Mary & Ron are first-class folks and believe us, they know how to cook.

We stayed in the studio apartment and were very satisfied with our stay.

Not much to add to the existing reviews. Great views, great breakfasts and Ron & Mary are super helpful. One thing to note is that the this is a small intimate B&B, so you are really part of their household almost - but they are so welcoming! We had the seaglass room, and could hear upstairs traffic late at night and early morning - which slightly bothered my wife who is a light sleeper. So if you are a light sleeper, maybe chose a different room.

This is a beautiful home on the hillside withe THE VIEW. We had the studio apartment, which is a fabulous very large room with cozy furnishings that made us feel super comfortable. Mary & Ron made us feel most welcome with delicious breakfasts each day and marvelous stories about Mary's family history with the fur trade and bear guiding (dating back to Soviet rule) and Ron's fishing and other unique-to-Alaska escapades. I can't imagine a more comfortable, equipped, resourceful B&B to stay in. Our Kodiak visit was fantastic and we'd stay with Mary & Ron again in a heartbeat!

My wife and I stayed with Mary and Ron in August 2013. They were wonderful hosts. Our room was comfortably furnished and the breakfast were delicious. They suggested a number of activities and hikes for us, which we enjoyed immensely. Since the B&B is not in town, however, we had a rental car and I would recommend that for others. If you are staying in Kodiak, this is an excellent choice and much more personal than the Best Western downtown.
