The pictures were enticing but the reality was better and we were only sorry that we hadn't booked to stay longer. The accommodation provided everything you could think of: the old photographs showed what Mary's ancestors had been doing in Alaska and gave real insights into pioneer life in challenging circumstances. Mary and Ron fitted in with our rather awkward arrival and departure times with grace and as well as making suggestions for places to visit even provided a guided tour of memorable views over the bay on a particularly beautiful evening. It was like being guests in special circumstances and highly recommended.

Warm hosts, spotless accomodations, comfortable bed, great bathroom, beautiful view of the channel, delicious breakfasts - what more could a person ask for in a B&B? Before we even arrived at the B&B, Mary offered to meet us downtown to offer us tickets for free admission to the 2 museums and advise us about things going on in town that were special and only open for that particular day. She offered us great information during our entire 3 night stay about places to hike. We stayed in the Western Alaska Suite which was immaculate and very nicely decorated. The suite included cooking facilities, though we did not do any cooking. We also had a washer and dryer in our suite which was wonderful and so handy. Breakfasts were special with fresh flowers on the table and the food was, a noted previously, delicious. The view from Ron & Mary's home was simply beautiful. Where else can you watch eagles fly by as you eat a delicious breakfast? Though we had a car, we walked downtown 1 evening. It's a bit of a walk up hill to return to the B&B. I would very much recommend a stay at the Channel View. It made our experience in Kodiak so very special. Thank you, Ron & Mary!

Room Tip: I just want to mention that there are a number of steps involved to get to and from the rooms so peo...

Ron & Mary were such wonderful hosts. The food and views were amazing. We saw eagles right near the window in the trees near the b&b. It was amazing. The place felt like home and was decorated wonderfully. Ron & Mary made our Kodiak experience a place to definitely recommend to our friends.

Even the fact that a B&B is spotless clean, that the location and the view are excellent, that the food is amazing, that the rooms and the rest of the house are so nicely decorated, becomes secondary in front of the fact that Mary and Ron, the owners, treat you not just as their "customer", but as their own GUEST, as if you were just an old friend visiting them from far away. I would keep going back and back again to A Channel View B&B, and I know I am not the only one...

Ron and Mary were very welcoming, shared in making and serving breakfast, and shared valuable information about local restaurants and the events going on during the Kodiak Crab Fest. The view from the breakfast table was fantastic, their home decor is lovely - we were encouraged to enjoy all areas on the main floor. They were also busy making the rock gardens near the house more lovely and accessible. Our room had a sea glass theme - decor and books. Mary even drove another guest and I to a favorite spot for a hike and shared info about the park and plants we saw there. There was ample parking for all guests. Mary even anticipated that I would need an extra box of tissues, as I was having some allergy congestion!
Highly recommended - somewhat distant for us to walk to events (we did have a vehicle) but those more able could probably have accessed downtown and the festival activities. One would surely want to have a vehicle to access all of the roadways that Kodiak has to offer - we did, using maps and tips made available at Channel View.

We read all the fabulous reviews about the this bed and breakfast. I am sure that all of them are correct except we stayed in the ground floor apartment. Breakfast was left in the kitchen and was standard fare ( cereal, toast , links and eggs) Good but certainly not exceptional and we had to prepare it ourselves. However it was fabulous having our own entrance, kitchen and deck. The views were not as good as from the main house upstairs .Ron and Mary were incredibly warm and helpful and full of invaluable advice.

Room Tip: Try and stay in the main house for an outstanding stay.

Thank you for the positive review. To clarify, the apartment part of our B&B is more independent and self-catering. We do provide basic breakfast foods for our guests plus home-baked goods as a supplement. We have had guests make a special request to join us for breakfast for a nominal charge and will attempt to accommodate this if we have room at the dining table. We are always available for guidance and suggestions on activities for Kodiak Island!

We expected a beautiful B&B with wonderful breakfasts and a gorgeous view, but we did NOT expect the accommodations, food and view to be as wonderful as they were. All of our expectations were exceeded and then some. Ron and Mary are lively, friendly hosts who actually make guests feel as though they are visiting rather than purchasing a room. The breakfasts were to die for and the little touches on the plates and throughout the rooms were much appreciated. We will return to Kodiak at some point and would not consider staying anywhere other than The Channel View.

Room Tip: The bathroom for the Sea Glass Room is in the hallway that leads to the downstairs bedroom. Travele...

Thank you for your kind words! It makes us happy when guests are pleased with their stay and makes us try even harder to provide a positive experience. We do want to share that the new private staircase for the Western Alaska Studio suite (referred to in the review as the "downstairs bedroom" ) is almost completed. Currently there are 2 entrances to the studio, one a set of steep flagstones and one through the sink area of the compartmentalized bathroom on the mid-level of the house. The new staircase will be the third access to the studio and the one guests will use.
