Description: The Tunnel Top, formerly known as the Talbot Arms has stood above the Preston Brook Tunnel on the Trent & Mersey Canal since 1903. The pub has seen many changes over time yet has remained at the heart of a local community for many years and is still inviting for passing travellers and canal users throughout the year. Many local walks can be commenced from the pub, for those interested in rural history.

Visited this pub for the first time today. Had excellent Sunday lunch- two courses for £12.95. Food was lovely and waitress service friendly and efficient. Will recommend to others looking for somewhere new to try.

“Tunnel Top, excellent!”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

We visited this pub today and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive. We knew it had changed hands this year but its still a fantastic place to go. We didn't use the garden due to rain but the children's climbing frame looked great. The toilets were so spotless, even our 5 year old commented on how clean they were! We always find it difficult to find somewhere that has good facilities for children & good food (you usually have to sacrifice one for the other!), but this place seems to have it!

“Great food and service”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

Thoroughly enjoyed the food at the Tunnel Top. In particular the haddock was excellent as a Sunday lunch alternative to the obvious roast fare, all of which also looked great on my fellow visitors' plates.

The desserts all sound great but I'm being good and saving that for a future visit - we will definitely be back!

Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

This should be turned into a country pub were locals can go for a drink and not feel like they have to be someone that they're not this is not Stockton Heath please do not try to turn into one of them overpriced snobbery bars went here the other day with the Wi the food was very poor it was microwave chicken which had been overcooked the chips were rotten inside the type that you have when potatoes are going off unless they get their act together this place will close down again soon is this what he is after and turn them into flats like he has tried to be for
