Description: Bridgend Hotel is an 11 bedroomed country hotel with a dining room, public lounge (known as 'The Strath') and Katie's Bar which sells food in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is run by Lorna McKechnie and is owned by Islay Estates. Where possible we use locally sourced food, particularly shellfish and game from the estate. Children are always welcome, as are dogs; there are drying facilities at the rear of the hotel for those caught out in the rain.

The hostess was unbelivably helpful and friendly. We arrived 30 minutes early and even that time she took great care of us, offering drinks and menus to choose from. She gave us a good time to choose the meals by explaining all to us to the details. The food was nicely layed out and tasted great. The service staff could smile a bit more but all together nothing bad really to say. Can recommend.

This was our first restaurant on Islay and my favorite! Lorna is lovely, and helpful. She filled us all in on the sights of Islay and payed extra attention to the children-even offering us some of her own chocolate stash . The service was fantastic as was the food!! All our dishes were great- not a crumb was left! It's the whole package! The gardens are lovely to walk around in before or after dinner - it is truly spectacular. All in all I could have eaten here every night!

We chanced upon this hotel for some much needed restorative afternoon tea after being caught out in a down pour. We were speaking to the lovely manager, Lorna about our previous nights accommodation in a nearby hotel which was appalling. She kindly offered to show us the hotels rooms which were all impressive and could offer us one for our second night. We quickly relocate and choose a cosy sweet room. Lorna also managed to book us into dinner and I have to say it was the highlight meal of our trip. Seafood bisque and a fresh Atlantic salmon salad. It's a pity we had to leave early the next day otherwise it would have been nice to enjoy the beautiful gardens. Thank you Lorna for coming to our rescue and leaving us with such a memorable experience.

Fantastic friendly hotel. The restaurant menu was great. Loads of choices, local sourced produce. The staff were friendly and accommodating, nothing was to much trouble. Great atmosphere would highly recommend. A must if visiting Islay. Not too expensive conmpared to other restaurants.
