“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2013

Last week we stayed for 2 nights at the Hill Crest Cottage. Sue is a very friendly and attentive host, she provided bus tickets and even bicycles for transport on the Island. We gladly used the bicycles to enjoy the beautiful beaches on the west coast of Guernsey which are within cycling distance of the B&B.
Our room was very nice and the room names are cute, we had the whale room and there was little whale on the drawstring for the light. I really appreciated the possibility to make tea/coffee or chocolate in the room, we could even use the fridge downstairs.
Breakfast was brilliant, everything included. Normally I don’t like a typical British breakfast but this was a very nice experience.

Had a great weekend break, came across for a reunion. Sue is a brilliant host, very attentive and made the stay even better. Probably best to have a hire car for a longer stay but the local bus service is adequate for getting in and out of town (St Peter Port).

We stayed for 7 nights at Sue's delightful B&B last month and couldn't fault anything and really appreciated both the kindness and the general interest Sue showed in us and our holiday. Our room and adjoining bathroom were great. Use of a television, plus the complimentary tea/coffee/chocolate drinks tray in the room made us very comfortable. Sue made sure we knew we could use the guest fridge in the kitchen and make use of the conservatory at other times of the day. Our daily breakfast was scrumptious and certainly set us up for the day's walking ahead. Each day Sue gave us tips and help on where to walk on the island and further points of interest to note along the way. We think Sue's idea of including the use of bus passes is excellent and we made full use of these. One earlier review I've read says a car is needed as this B&B isn't close to restaurants......I would query that - the bus passes take you to restaurants within walking distance home if the bus service has stopped for the evening. We didn't take a car and certainly didn't need one. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week with Sue and wholeheartedly recommend her B&B. We shall return!! Thank you so much Sue.

Sue is a friendly host, the room and bathroom were generous in size and the breakfast choices were good.An adequate B&B but you need your own transport as restaurants are not within walking distance. We had a small issue with heating and our towels would not dry. We asked for fresh towels and got them ..no problem

Four of us stayed in this wonderful, well appointed B&B for 3 nights, my wife and I and two friends, as we were all attending a wedding on the Island. We stayed in the double room and our friends in the twin. Both rooms are spacious, modern, clean and all facilities provided, and more. I say 'and more' as my wife ripped her nail and when she asked Sue, the landlady, if she had some nail glue, out came everything to do with nails, from her own collection! Sue also provides a bus pass that gets you round the Island so we used this to get in and out of St Peter Port.
As the name of the B&B implies, it is on a hill and the bus we used to get us back from town dropped us off at the bottom of the hill (although there may be another bus that drops you closer). It was no problem for us 'youthful' 50 odd year olds as it only took us 10 minutes to get to the B&B, but for anyone with walking difficulties, or in a wheel chair, this might be of some difficulty. (There is the Fontaine pub on the way to stop for refreshment though!!)
After saying all that Sue will go out of her way and give you a lift in her car if you need her to. On the Friday she run us all to the wedding venue and on the Saturday she run my wife down to the shops - how helpful is that?! There are also two bikes available for the more energetic guests.
Breakfast, served in the conservatory each morning, was delicious - fruit, cereal and Full English if you wanted. As it is only a small B&B Sue will cater to your breakfast time so if you want a lie in she will accommodate you.
Outside there is a conversation pit where you can sit in the sun and talk to whoever. There is also a BBQ and this has to be arranged with Sue.
All in all a really wonderful stay, made even better by the lovely host Sue, for who nothing seems to be too much trouble - a very very friendly lady.
Many thanks Sue for a great stay - We will be back!!
