“A room in a pub.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2013 via mobile

Just to make you aware. This isn't really a B and B, they have rooms upstairs in a relatively grotty little pub. Room I stayed in was spacious and served purpose but was tired, a bit dirty and abysmally decorated.
Owner couldn't do enough to help and food was ok at breakfast and in the evening (both served in the pub).
Location is rural, a car is a must although there is a bus into Truro, Chacewater is a good location to get everywhere in west cornwall but the village itself is one of the less desirable in the area. There is absolutely no phone signal in Chacewater but obviously that is no reflection on the pub and there is a 'the cloud' wireless router which works very well.
I didn't enjoy my stay at all but people with lower expectations may find it acceptable for a place to crash.

and we still received a warm welcome, they seemed to be open all day on Sunday and service didn't flag at all. A party of nearly 20 arrived at about 3.30pm, all their starters came out at once, a credit to the kitchen staff and the unflappable waitresses. The food was delicious, I had haddock scotch egg as a starter, another starter was crab beignets - I stole some off my husband's plate, they were delicious too, and he liked my scotch egg! (which had a soft centre). Main courses didn't disappoint, and the tiramisu was yummy. Well done everyone !

3 night stay in family room & en-suite shower/toilet. Breakfast included in price really filling. Excellent menu for evening meals and reasonably priced. Landlord/lady very friendly & helpful. Early start on last morning so substantial packed lunches left for us instead of breakfast. Would stay again.

We booked a bargain, family room for £40 for 3 of us and I really didn't expect great things but was surprised. Room was clean and well equipped and staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely, only downside was sharing a bathroom and traffic noise at night but I put that down to being a very light sleeper. A lovely experience, even the towels matched the bedding, a charming place

this is not a 5 star hotel or a travel lodge, its a character building is a small village.
Lovely rooms and the food was great, would stay there again if i find myself in the area.
Oh and free wifi as the mobile signal is crap in the area....

Besides being absolutely wonderful, familiar and nice atmosphere, the great surprise was that, even though there was no way to know if they would offer a vegan option of the wonderful English breakfast, there was an option!! They simply invented it... Scott is always ready to take suggestions, you just need to let him know... Simply excellent.

It is an interesting place, not posh or "perfect" in that sense, but original and beautiful in its own way, which is much better than the typical hotel you can find anywhere. This is a true original experience...
