“Professionally ran but with emphasis on comfort and relaxation”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Just back from having spent 4 nights at the Hideaway at the end of a 2 week holiday. We stayed in one of the VIP rooms with a fantastic view over the town towards the sea. You do need to hire a car to get the best out of what the area has to offer though. The hotel itself is clean and tastefully furnished. The background organisation works so well that guests could be forgiven for thinking that there is no management staff at all on site. There appears to be a seamless delivery and attitude towards the ultimate holiday experience which is delivered by a team of committed staff, who appear to enjoy their job enormously. Each and every one of them made an effort to make us feel welcome and went out of their way to do all they could to ensure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. All public areas including the pool area very well maintained and clean. Breakfast of a very high standard with a good choice of menu and served to you at the table. Snack and bistro menu with a daily 'special' also had a good choice selection and all cooked to an exceptional standard. Went to Thursday night with Katie B, which included a full meal and entertainment, and it's one of the best nights we've had for a long time.
I think the Hideaway works so well because the family who own and run the business really care about wanting to 'get it right', and in our case, they certainly did.
Thanks for everything.

Travelling with Friends

Check in

We arrived around 11PM and were greeted as soon as we got out of the taxi and shown to our rooms, this has to be the fastest check in we have ever had, we were in the bar within 10 minutes, we did the paper work at reception the next day which only takes a few minutes.

Meals

Breakfast

Plenty of choice on the menu and they mix and match if you wanted a wider choice nothing was to much trouble, I had full English every day which was 1 piece of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, tomatoes and baked beans with toast and condiments tea or coffee, I am not a small person but this set me up for the day.

Lunch
We had lunch a couple of times and the menu had a wide choice, I had the Hide away burger on one occasion and pasta on the other, both were delicious.

Evening meals

We only did the BBQ and this was not bad and entertainment was provided.

For all the meals we had all 4 of us agreed we enjoyed them.

Rooms

We were in room 26 a private suite; the bed was firm but comfortable, AC worked fine, bathroom on the smallish side but big enough for what is required, it had a shower and again I am not on the small side and I never found this to be to small for me, the sitting room had a fridge, tea and coffee was provided along with a kettle. We did not have a sea view but a terrace to sit out on with lime trees around very nice.

Wifi

I could not get this in the room, but could get a good signal round the main pool and dinning/bar area they also provide access to a computer in reception as well

Pool

Great pool very relaxing sun beds with towels provided, the water was just a little on the cool side for me and it took a few minutes to get in.

Hotel in general

Very well maintained gardens and public area's and has a great position for views over Kyrenia and over to the sea
Great bar with seating area outside and in.
The complimentary drink round the pool in the day was welcomed and so were the frozen hand towels.

Staff

This is the hotel excels; I can't single one person out because they all gave 100%, from Reception (brilliant) who organised the rental car, ordered taxi's and also gave us information on other restaurants and made our bookings for us, to the waiters and bar staff, if only the rest of the worlds hotels could have people like these.

We are well travelled and have visited many hotels around the world from 2 to 5 star and the week we had here was fantastic, we went with very good friends of ours (Steve and Alison thanks for a great time).
The other guest staying here were always very friendly and most were repeat visitors and were always willing to pass on advise regarding the area what to do and were to eat.

Hideaway you did a brilliant job.

Room Tip: ask if you require a sea view room

Visited "The Hideaway Club" for two nights with my wife and two close friends about a week ago. Was staying with our friends "in the south"
The hotel is small and boutique-like. Some rooms are similar to bungalows others are attached to the main building. We were in room 10, which gives a garden view and a view of the mountains also a view of the sea in the far distance. More expensive rooms give a much better view of the sea etc and are probably larger.
Our room was lovely. There was a nice sized lounge with a large ceiling fan, also a small sofa with a coffee table and a couple of chairs. The bedroom was air conditioned however it was impossible to get the unit to produce COLD air, as it was over 30 degrees each day!! the wrought iron bed was very comfortable but no wide enough(only 4'6") The decor was attractive according to my wife! It was a pity however that the bathroom didn't come up to the standard of the room. The shower was well below par. The shower water had no power in it whatsoever and simply dribbled out although it was hot enough. The water unfortunately leaked out of the shower cubicle onto the floor which required mopping up with a towel each time. This was due to an ill fittng shower door. The sink had a small crack in it and the taps must have come out of the ark!!! The toilet was squeezed in between the shower and wall and didn't leave a great deal of room!!!!It is fortunate that we aren't on the large size!!!!!!! The whole bathroom is in dire need of modernising.
Outside is a balcony with a nice occaisional table and chairs.
The swimming pool complex is excellent. Water warm with max depth of 3m. There is a WC and changing room. The sunbeds are plentiful, with a comfortable mattress. The umbrellas are large covering two sunbeds with ease.
Breakfast was taken up on an area overlooking the swimming pool complex which also afforded a splendid view of the sea. The breakfast was cooked to order and i have to say lovely. We didn't have dinner at the hotel as we found two fab restaurants down in the town nearby.
The bar area was very comfortable and welcoming.
All in all, this is a very comfortable, quiet select 4 star hotel with very friendly, attentive and accomodating staff. Thoroughly recommended and the price is more than the reasonable.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views, the more expense obviously the better the view/room

What a great hotel away from the hustle and bustle of noise, peace and quiet excellent, all staff excelled above their expectations second time there can't wait for next September I only hope they do not introduce kids there, this is pure adult only,a more refined kind of peoples getaway. to match its name the hideaway is brilliant, and not far from anywhere or anything, sights, restaurants and beach clubs hire car is easy to get the receptionist does it all for you, I'm sorry my wife and I had to come home, and cant wait to return.

We have recently returned from our visit to Hideaway and would definitely recommend it. This is our second time there and we really loved our stay. The hotel and amenities are excellent especially the pool area and the rooms are superb. We had our own private terrace where we had breakfast served which is a lovely touch.
The views are stunning and the service excellent

The staff are really helpful and friendly attentive yet not intrusive.

We will definitely be going back a big thanks to Guzin and the staff

We revisited THCH last week (after a year absence) with friends for a 3 night stay.

The location is great and the staff as usual (particularly Oya - head receptionist - who sorted out an air con issue very professionally and quickly) are friendly and accommodating.

The food menu has been given a good overhaul by the family and meals served (both for lunch and evening) were significantly improved in taste and choice and remained good value.

The only mildly negative comments I would make are:

For the cost of the outlay to the hotel the lack of complimentary bottled water provided in the rooms is disappointing

Additionally the 'free' toiletries and presentation of the coffee and tea facilities do need an overall to bring them up to the required standard.....

When the hotel is full (which is was when we went last week) there can be a bit of a scramble for the sun loungers

However the above taken into account there were no other negatives and although you can obviously stay at cheaper venue's I believe this hotel merits a visit - well done to all the staff and the family owners

We visited the hideaway club some 8/9 years ago pre children and loved it then, the area, food and staff were great. Now some years on we went back to northern cyprus (with children) so although didnt stay here visited for an evening meal to reminisce, which the children were allowed to join us for (after a frantic phone call checking) and it still doesnt dissapoint.. the food atmopshere and staff were all fantastic we had one of the best meals we had during our stay this time and were made to feel very welcome even though we werent residents.
I can say this (having two lovely very well behaved children under 6 years of age) that the hotel is most definately not sutied for young children but there is nothing wrong with that - i just cant wait till ours our older to be able to stay there again ... or sweet talk the grandparents to babysit whilst we have a quick trip ... then again whom i kidding they introduced us to the hideaway all those years ago they'd be hot on our heels.
