We had a great week in Swallows Return! It’s a lovely house and extremely well equipped, I don’t thing we’ve ever stayed in a holiday home that is as well equipped as this, the owners have thought of everything. The garden is more like a small park, with so much variety and beautifully done, we’d love to see it in the Spring, it must be stunning. You won’t regret booking to stay here.
We enjoyed our two weeks holiday in Swallows Return very much. It was a real home from home for us and our dog. The cottage has eyery comfort one would expect, it was exceptionelly clean and cosy. We loved the rainy days so we had an excuse to hang around in the house and just to sit and read a book. But on the other Hand there are so many things to do and places to visit ... The house is also ideal for dogowners. We are looking forward to see the owners Penny and Bill again.
Super property, exquisitely furnished and extremely well equipped. No expense has been spared and the Barn was like a real home not just done up as a holiday let.
Set in wonderful surroundings, beautiful gardens complete with orchard, tennis court, pond and hens. We were lucky that the plums and apples were ready when we stayed so were kindly invited to help ourselves.
Our son also loved collecting eggs from the hens for breakfast.
We received a very warm welcome and awaiting us were 6 fresh eggs, a box of biscuits and some milk in the fridge.
Penny & Bill were perfect hosts, really genuine, friendly and warm and we would love to keep in touch.
We couldn't have wished for any more (other than an extra week!). We would definitely like to return
We have high standards and take great care to find somewhere really lovely to stay each year. We have always managed this but Swallows Return was the best we have ever stayed in.
We found places to visit every day, none more than a 50 minute drive away - Canterbury, Hythe, Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway, Dungeness, Howletts & Port Lympne, Rye and Tenterden
Highly recommended. I am happy to give a glowing review but a bit of me really wants to keep this as our own little secret!
Many thanks, Penny and Bill, we really appreciated everything
We stayed in Swallows Return in mid-June, during the hottest week that the UK had seen in many years. However, Swallows Return was a calm, cool haven. The barn is simply wonderful, and Bill and Penny are just as wonderful! The bedrooms and bathrooms are great, and the decor is superb. Internet/wifi, kitchen -- all perfect. Mattresses are particularly comfortable. Bill and Penny were always available to help and answer questions about the house and the area. The garden is magnificent, words cannot describe the beauty and variety of flowers, shrubs and trees which have been cultivated and developed over many years by the couple. We have come off of a very busy year and Swallows Return was just what we needed. We are only sorry that we were not able to stay longer We will most definitely return to Swallows Return. Thank you Bill and Penny for all! Mary Anne and Michael Baumgartner
The owners Bill and Penny were so welcoming we felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The barn is equipped with all you would need to make your stay a home from home. The cleanliness could not be faulted and the whole accommodation was top notch. There were 4 generations of our family staying throughout the week and every single family member were blown away by the barn.
It is in an ideal place to explore the lovely county of Kent. We had a lovely week and would definitely return.
We visited Swallows return with 3 generations of our family and felt that our every need was met. The house had every modern convenience, was stylishly furnished and decorated and very clean on arrival. Penny and Bill gave us a warm welcome and showed us briefly around before leaving us to explore the rest of the house and gardens.
The gardens are stunning and have to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. There are 2 acres of gardens sectioned into different 'rooms' that all have their own theme. We only hope that we get to go back again in the summer sometime as it would be stunning when in full bloom. We had lots of fun playing hide and seek around the garden and made full use of the Tennis court. We attempted to play tennis and had so much fun as a family on the court. Our children took their scooters with them and had much fun scooting around the court too.
We visited the local pub and had 2 excellent meals there. The portion sizes are immense - certainly no room for pudding on either occasion and nobody managed to clear their plate. We walked to the pub on one occasion but as there were no pavements it was quite dangerous as the road got quite busy, so it is preferable to drive there.
Swallows return is well located for visiting the coast and we visited Dymchurch, Dungeness and went inland slightly to Rye, which was lovely. Camber Sands is by far the best beach for children and the only beach with proper sand. Our hidden gem was Lower Leas Coastal Park which we visited on our last day. A stunning park with coastal views and walks, a fantastic park for the children, clean toilets and ice cream on site. If we visited again we'd take a BBQ and picnic as the facilities for this were fantastic. We took a 15 minute walk from the park into the town of Folkestone and enjoyed looking around the shops there too.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely return.
We stayed a week in the Swallows return and enjoyed every bit of it. The barn conversion is very well done and stylishly furnished. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
