We stayed in Alde Barn for a week and had a wonderful time. The barn was very comfortable, clean and 'quirky'. The enclosed garden was perfect for our two dogs who also loved the meadow on the opposite side of the road. Carl was a perfect host - a real people's person who was always around if needed (especially for Nespresso capsules!!). There was plenty to do in the area and most places were dog-friendly. It is rare, in our experience, to find such great accommodation that is also so welcoming to dogs.
We spent four nights in Stour Barn which is in a great setting - rural, very quiet but easy to travel to other interesting locations. So nice to get away from all the hustle and bustle. The barn was adequately equipped and perfect for two people. It had a unique garden (lots of little quirky features) and the hot tub was just fantastic which we made good use of in the evenings with a glass of bubbbly!
Thank you Carl for a very pleasant stay.
We stayed in the Granary Barn for five nights, our second visit (we stayed last year too). The accommodation is excellent; bursting with character it's rustic yet smart, comfortable and well equipped - Carl has a good eye for detail. The secure enclosed garden proved a constant fascination for our two dogs. A great central location for exploring Suffolk; villages, towns and coast are all there. We were so rested and relaxed in the sunshine on the last night we booked again for next year!
We stayed in Deben Barn for a 4 night break last week with our 2 dogs, a Labradoodle and a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. On arrival (we were over an hour early) we were met by Carl who took us to our barn , which was beautifully presented, and gave us a full induction as to how things worked. Carl is one of the most friendly , customer focused people I've met. We unpacked our stuff and noticed the scumptious breakfast basket on the counter, it had everything to make a fab breakfast including mushrooms, fruit, fresh bread and bacon to die for!!! There was also treats for the dogs and a handy 'poo bag' dispenser.
I had prebooked Tesco to deliver our groceries and that arrived without problem, its a great thing to do as Tesco is around a 15/20 minute drive away and eating out isn't always easy with 2 nutty dogs and it being half term. Foodwise we did have lunch and a cream tea at The Deli at the chilli Farm which was fab, and we bought bbq meats from Mr Allards, a nearby butchers.
We had a relaxing break, nice country walks, fully used an appreciated the Woof-barn meadow....our dogs absolutely loved being able to have off lead runs every day as the meadow is a good size and fully enclosed including a smaller area ideal for nervous, older or untrained dogs. Early mornings over there are beautiful and so very peaceful. Evenings were spent having a bbq and a few drinks the secure garden then a soak in the hot tub, pure luxury!!!! Carl even supplies you with slippers and a robe, and a different set of towels to use for the tub, very thoughtful. After a soak its off to bed, the bed was amazingly comfortable and even though the days were really warm I slept well as the bedroom remained quite cool.
The barn itself is full of quirky items which give a lovely warm feel, it has a mix of a comfortable sofa and pretty, unique pieces of furniture. Everything is simple and classy, no over decoration or tackiness, bur for me its tiny things that made a difference too, full new bottles of Fairy liquid, Molten brown hand soaps and bleach. there really is such attention to detail!!!
On a practical note there was always piping hot water available, the free WIFI worked without a hitch for us and the mobile phone signal was good too (we are with Sky ). In the 'shed' there is a huge choice of cds, dvds and games to play and also push bikes if you are feeling energetic, we were too chilled out for that though! The barn was clean and you would never know that the accomodation allows pets, there is no doggy odour present. Carl asks the basics of you and that is part of what makes Woodfarm Barns work, clear up after your pets, don't leave them alone and keep them of the furniture and bed, pretty standard requests but I do think that people appreciate this here and accept that following this keeps it beautiful. Stuck for anything then ask Carl or one of his team, i had a lovely chat with John about history and churches and he is another lovely guy , i also had a cheeky look around another barn while a lady was cleaning it for new guests!!!!. During the day they work hard to keep this place the little retreat that it is, in our 4 night stay we saw grass being cut, gardens tidied, hot tubs cleaned and were told of the exciting plans for the meadow which include putting in agility equipment, hills and toys for the dogs and a large gazebo with benches for us owners, its as if the dogs have their own park :-)
Simply for me its the best holiday we've had, we were relaxed and our dogs were chilled, which is amazing in itself as one can be quite anxious but he really wasn't . After my fight with cancer and the consequences of, and my husbands daily battle with Crohns we are beyond happy to have had such a fantastic stay and Im booking my return trip as soon as I've posted this!!!
We spent a lovely few days in Alde Barn with our 3 dogs. It was so nice to find a place that caters for dogs so well. Dog bowls, treats, a hose in the garden for any muddy paws, towels, an enclosed garden and best of all a fully enclosed field across the road which our dogs loved, there is even a seperate section for nervous/younger/older dogs to play in peace. With the dogs so well catered for we could relax and enjoy a few days rest in a beautiful barn that was so homely and comfortable. If you have a problem or even just a question Carl was just a text or phone call away. There are plenty of walks nearby in the Suffolk countryside or if you fancy a trip to the beach there are several within a 40-50 min drive. If you want a relaxing dog friendly holiday in beautiful countryside look no further!
We had a great stay for a quick two night get away to this beautiful barn ! Everything you needed was there, a lovely breakfast basket and a fantastic hot tub ! We visited Southwold, ate fish and chips by the sea a wonderful relaxing time. Next time we go we will be brining our dogs they will love it !
Thank you Carl
Have just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay in Deben Barn, a delightful lodge equipped with everything you may need for a luxury, relaxing escape from the norm. Carl met us on arrival and couldn't have been more helpful giving us the guided tour and useful tips! We were provided with a super breakfast hamper (milk and butter awaiting in the fridge) and to our little dog Toby's delight there was also a doggy hamper with yummy treats and even a toy, what a lovely touch! Woodfarm Barns are in an ideal location to explore Suffolk and not too far to visit the beach, which given the glorious weather we had, we tended to do most days but there is so much to see and do in the area, there is something for everyone. One of the highlights for us was the luxurious hot tub in our own private garden, spa towels, robes and slippers provided. I have no hesitation in recommending this rural idyll and have already passed details to friends and family. Thanks to Carl for our lovely holiday, till the ne t time Ruth, Mike and Toby x
