A 12 minute drive South from Potes, the charming mountain village of Tudes offers a great location for a holiday. Old farm buildings transformed into a bunch of wonderfully decorated appartments (in different sizes) with an infinity pool and -across the street- a bar where the owner sells your morning baguettes and serves meals. Views of the Picos are magnificent, unless they disappear in the mist... In August 2013, owner Tony was in hospital, but he can be proud of his young daughter Sarah, who was in charge and did an excellent job. The house was clean, we got some extra towels for the swimming pool, the wifi worked well (unless everyone used their phones, tablets and laptops at the same time...). We borrowed some dvd's from the social room for our evening program. We did some great walks in the immediate surroundings (via Porcieda to Potes and back, to the Santo Toribio Monastery) and a bit further off (from the top cable car station at Fuente Dé to the top of the Horcados Rojos, and the stunningly beautiful Cares gorge from Poncebos to Caín and back).

We stayed 3 days in a 4 person apartment. It was idyllic. The apartment was 3 stories with superb views from the top bedroom and from the first floor balcony. It was a bit chilly one evening so we lit the wood burning stove - didn't really need it as the central heating was perfectly adequate but it created such a cosy atmosphere. We haven't played table football for years but we took full advantage of the games area to put this right. The village of Tudes (30 inhabitants plus same number of dogs) is in a sort of time warp but it has been brought back to life by the Taverna opened by Tony and Lucia. This is both a great place to stay and a super base from which to explore the stunning beauty of the Picos de Europa.

What a great find. If you're going to do this part of the Picos and want to wake up each morning to stunning scenery in lovely apartment then look no further. Owner Tony has it just right. Chimeneas is peaceful and cosy and a fantastic base to explore this spectacular part of Spain.

Stayed here for 2 weeks during a strong Spanish heatwave. The place is relaxed and charming, fully integrated with the life of the - very tiny - local community. Lots of local walks and other excursions within 20 to 1hr 20 drive (dont be put off by some of the travel times - drives are amazing).

Facilities are good with a lovely pool with magnificent views of the mountains. The bar/ restaurant is a fantastic asset (owned by the same people who have the Casa) ; food is basic but fun to eat there. We would definitely return.

Just returned from a super Holiday stay at the superb Chimeneas - in the Cielo Apartment.
The Accomodation really surpassed our expectations imensely. We arrived on our Motorbike from Bilbao after a long but very nice ferry crossing from Portsmouth and were shown where we could park and then to our apartment by Lucia , who also showed us all around the beautiful location.
The bedroom upstairs had a fabulous view over the Picos Mountains , which are truley magical when the mist rises from them. The kitchen was very well stocked even down to a cork screw and dishwasher tablets.
We enjoyed our stay of 7nts here and feel we have had a wonderful relaxing Holiday indeed - even bought a little cow bell in Potes about 9miles down the hill to remind us of the sounds of the village. We met everyone who stayed in the Apts in the lovely oldy worldy bar and watched the Euros 2012 matches - food was good and staff were very pleasant indeed.
We hope to return again to this Accomodation as we found it excellent value all round.
Wish we could have stayed longer!!

Room Tip: Cielo Apt very bright and airy any Apt would be great
