As well as a fantastic setting, this place is just great. My wife is vegetarian and the choice is really good too. Two good real ales, great reasonably priced food and great staff, I highly recommend this place. Went over on Monday, had veggy burger and haggis fritters, brilliant, sat in the sun. Everyone should try this place!!!!!

I stayed for one night. The first impressions of hotel are not great. It is down a staircase and the lobby / reception is dark and unimpressive. Room was very big with an eclectic collection of furnitur. It was sspotlessly clean. Bar and restaurant were nicley done. Service friendly and efficient. Food really tasty.

Nice local hotel with a good menu and decent quality food at reasonable prices. The staff are lovely and helpful but the decor is tired. I have just heard that this is being rectified as the kitchen/dining is closed for a couple of weeks while refurbishment is done, looking forward to re-opening and seeing the results.

Lovely views from the patio over decent sized gardens and across the Firth of Clyde. It's a pity the owners haven't done more to tidy up the gardens which are a bit neglected and could be a very enjoyable feature in the good weather.

Overall a very pleasant experience, just a shame to see so few people using this hotel.

Have just returned home after spending a memorable few days at the Kilcreggan Hotel with a group of friends. From the moment we arrived until we left this morning we were treated like royalty. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for them, the food was absolutely first class and the breakfasts were memorable. Although the Hotel itself is work in progress this does not take away from the experience as the hotel is welcoming, clean and friendly. It has real character and has many features including a residents lounge from an age of elegance whose character must not be lost.
Thanks again Tim and staff.

Out with extended family we were too early for dinner at the fabulous Knockderry and were recommended this 'pub grub' offering. Expectations were thus not high. The building is quite grand and it is decorated in a unimpressive manner, however the menu read very well and gave an impression of elevated standards. We were not to be disappointed. The presentation of the starters were well above pub offerings. The mains were equally impressive and homemade. This led a few of us to try the puddings - as nothing was going to be boil in the bag, so value was obtained. We were impressed and very satisfied by this 'find' and will be back to enjoy its outdoors in better weather to take in its elevated views.

Booked a room at this hotel 5 weeks ago to attend a wedding nearby. went to hotel in person to book room, paid £35.00 deposit on booking. We arrived on Saturday to check in
to be told that there was no booking recorded in book. Fortunatly we had the receipt for our deposit with us, however this did not help us get a room. We were told sorry hotel is full you will have to go somewhere else. No real appologhy for this mistake. would never book there again. After all our trouble all we got was our money refunded, no offer of compensation or any attempt to recompense us for the problem.

I have stayed several times and found the accommodatio satisfactory - this comment is about the £9,95 "steak and guiness" pie. As now the norm this is a bowl with a flaky pastry top resting on it. The gravy was quite pleasant but the meat was poor quality not properly trimmed and rubbery. The waitress asked if all was alright and when I said not so she said so it was meat ! There is a very good butcher in the village who could provide decent meat which could be properly cooked to justify a £9.95 charge.

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the river as excellent
