“Cosy Cottage”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2012

Trying to find the magical combination of an idyllic setting, traditional buildings beautifully converted with luxurious interiors is more of a challenge than you might think in Cumbria but Hall Hills does it perfectly. It’s hard to photograph, so the web page doesn’t do it justice – come and see for yourself. Lots of lovely little touches made it one of the cosiest cottages we have stayed in – we honestly found it hard to leave every day and we were here for a week! The owners have that great ability to be always available but never intrusive. Jude has a great eye and lovely style but always combined with the aim of comfort and relaxation.
Visit nearby High Head Sculpture Valley – a lovely combination of art and outdoors and great scones!
Jude/Tim – see you at Christmas – we can’t wait for our return visit!

Room Tip: We loved Yam but have booked Methera for our next stay - both are beautiful but Methera is brilliant...

Seventeen first and second cousins spent a lovely week at Hall Hills, taking over all the self-catering units. It was a perfect, clean and comfortable place for our reunion. Tim and Jude were great and Debbie, the caterer they arranged for us, prepared excellent meals. Definitely to be recommended.

Seventeen adult family members joined together at Hall Hills for a week of visiting, hiking, eating and camaraderie. The accommodations were excellent - we took over the entire complex which was sparkling and tastefully appointed, even using the "wine bar" as our collective breakfast and dinner room. Jude and Tim (and even their daughters!!!) responded to every query, gave useful recommendations and guided our organizers to a first-rate caterer who prepared our dinner meals with flair. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Each unit had its own perks. We were in "Folly" which was connected to a very large livin...

We spent 4 nights at the Methera Cottage and truly loved every single minute of it. The cottage was very well equipped for self catering, had everything we could possibly need. Very spacious modern style with high quality furnishings. Tim and Jude are so lovely and were there to support us should we need it throughout. I can honestly say it was in such a beautiful, calm location, I wouldn't change anything about it. The welcome hamper was full of local goodies for us to eat which was gratefully received. Without doubt, I would 100% recommend this to anyone! While here we visited lots of local villages, Ullswater and there are plenty of places to eat out whether you are looking for a pub or a tearoom. We are already booking again for a few months time! Perfect, absolutely perfect.

We spent a week here with family. The owners were very warm & friendly. Mostly we walked in the nearby Lake District, but I particularly enjoyed the local rambles that I was able to do from the cottage. The Cumbria Way near Rose Castle is literally over the hill and around a bend. The walk from there was filled with entertaining and heartwarming encounters with cows, ewes and lambs. Anyone familiar with the Northern Lasses Lamentation (Roxburghe 2.367) may find themselves singing while they ramble past beautiful old Oak and Ash trees, fields and gardens so pleasant and gay. Be sure to borrow the local parish map from the binder in your room & merrily hent the stiles-a.

We spent a week at Hall Hills in June 2012, taking over the entire property with 17 relatives from the US, Canada, Holland and France. We were delighted with the thoughtful, modern and high-quality furnishing and equipment in each of the cottages. Jude and Tim went out of their way to assist and support us and meet all of our rather special requests. We had breakfast and dinner together in the "Bar" which was just finished, and which was specially adapted to our needs. Friendly, cozy, professional, flexible. We had a wonderful time and can warmly recommend staying at Hall Hills.

Room Tip: Study the website. Each of the 5 properties is different.
