Chateau de Brametourte
Ranked #1 of 3 Lautrec B&B and Inns
Reviewed 11 December 2011

We stayed here in August 2011 for a week with our three children. Brametourte is a converted castle, beautifully restored. Our rooms were huge and comfortable, with furnishings in keeping with the style of the building, but modern bathrooms. Our hosts were delightful and accommodating and couldn't have been more welcoming. The breakfasts were great, and so were the dinners we had there. The pool area too is beautiful, and very peaceful. We would thoroughly recommend this.

This has to be the finest B&B we've ever stayed in, wow, wow, wow, 10/10! The website & photographs do not do this amazing chateau justice, every aspect of this property is just wonderful. The property is located high up in the Lautrec hills with fine uninterrupted views for miles over the Tarn, the new pool is positioned to perfection to make the most of the panorama. The 900 year old building has been sympathetically restored to an exceptional standard by Alison & Paul. The spacious interiors are beautiful too, exposed wooden beams, marble floors, antique floorboards, marble baths, stunning antiques & paintings. Most historic house B&Bs & hotels in France are tired & let down by cheap decor/repro furnishings, or have been over modernised, this is most definitely not the case at Chateau Bramatourte. We were surprised at how very reasonable their room rates were, even if they doubled their prices it would be worth every penny.

Liz was the most welcoming host during our 3 night stay, cleanliness was very good everywhere. We were also invited to use the main kitchen to prepare meals & the upstairs lounge to relax. Most of the time we realaxed by the pool, and took our meals outdoors in the lovely gardens to enjoy the magical views.

If staying here we strongly recommend a day trip to the medieval hill top village of Cordes-sur-Ciel 10/10, the most beautiful & perfectly preserved medieval village, great boutique shops & restaurants. If flying in to Carcassone, the old city centre is well worth a visit, 9/10. We also visited the historic city of Albi, lots of narrow streets & great shops/restaurants, 8/10.

We hope to return very soon,

Mark & Laurie

Room Tip: The Gothic room is stunning, large room with four-poster, big ensuite bathroom, his & her sinks...

Having travelled for 4 weeks around France from Australia, Brametourte was the most memorable. The chateau was everything we had hoped for and more having been beautifully restored and furnished throughout with antique furniture.. The scenery from the pool area is absolutely fabulous right across to the Pyrenees. The hosts and the staff at Brametourte made our stay even better and made us feel like part of the family. We would definitle recommend the chateau and would love to come back. The lovely village of Latrec was a 30min walk away along some sun flowere fields. We didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Gothic room and absolutely loved it.

Chateau de Brametourte was a great find - it is better than the web site ihows. Paul and his wife have restored the building with such love and care, we felt very lucky to be staying in such an amazing place so full of charm and history. We arrived a day late due to flight problems from Australai and this did not phase Paul at all and then ended up staying a few additonal days becuase it was well located and such a great place to return too each evening after being out.

Breakfast was great served in the beautiful dining room overlooking the garden.

This was a wonderful place to stay - peaceful and charming, plus a good location for visiting places such as Albi, Toulosouse, Carcassonne, Milau and Lautrec.

We definitely hope to visit Chateau de Brametourte again and recommendaed it to freinds since our return to Australia.

Room Tip: All roooms are of amazing size

Our stay at the chateau Brametourte was everything that we expected it to be. Paul and Alison were exceptional hosts who ensured that our family of nine (!) were welcomed and catered for - from booking dinner, to simple advice on what to do in the area Alison and Paul could not have been any more helpful. The Chateau has been refurbished to a very high standard and the rooms are well appointed. We heartily recommend this place as a must stay place if you ever visit the Lautrec area.

Chateau de Brametourte was a gorgeous place to stay. The Chateau has been restored with such love and care, we felt very lucky to be staying in such an amazing place so full of charm and history. Alison and everyone at the Chateau were so welcoming and kind. Breakfast was wonderful served in the beautiful dining room. Unfortunately we had bad weather and could not make use of the pool with its fantastic view! This was a wonderful place to stay so peaceful and charming, a good location for visiting places such as Albi and Lautrec. We definitely hope to visit Chateau de Brametourte again, thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
