We only came to Bowness on Solway to do some bird watching. Being desperately hungry we came across Wallsend Gust House offering Afternoon Teas. We went into the dining room and sat at a table and straight away we were given a menu. We ordered sandwiches and scones to follow with jam and clotted cream along with a large pot of tea. It was all excellent and if in the area again would love to stay in this guest house. The whole coast line is absolutely stunning as was our afternoon tea experience.

Room Tip: I cannot comment on the rooms but if the hallway, dining room and afternoon tea are a taste of what...

A wonderful place at the end of a 26klm walk!! We received a warm welcome and had a very cosy upstairs room overlooking the countryside. The beds were comfortable and the room was well appointed. Good breakfast and a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. The nearby pub served a very substantial evening meal. The host arranged transport to Carlisle the next day. A very nice B&B.

Fantastic from the welcome to the farewell, tea, cake and real interest from Lynn on arrival. Comfortable room, bed and shower, immaculately clean, super breakfast with varied choice and premium brands, ( and I'm a vegetarian!) beautiful grounds, felt at home. Don't go anywhere else if you can get a room here, they even had a dry safe lock up for our bikes as we were doing the coast to coast.

Stopped at wallsend for the tearoom whilst driving along the coast.
Very nice indeed.
This is well worth seeking out if you want something that is upmarket.
We had lovely homemade soup and a sandwich and tea for two which was served with best china.
Nice touch was the webcam for the bird feeder outside. An Interesting distraction whilst you are waiting for that delicious lunch to come ! Mmmm

We started our week on Hadrian's Wall with Lyn and Andy, we were worried that their high standard would spoil us for the week, lovely and friendly, great breakfasts and packed lunches and comfy beds!!

We have used Wallsend Guest House three times - I've stayed with both family and friends. I can only best describe it as a "home from home", it's one of those places you are just so welcome and comfortable the moment you drive through the gate. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is to much trouble and I think we have really tested this to the absolute limit! Rooms are in first class order, the breakfast as superb and the communal lounge area is a homely place to relax at the end of a winters day. Even our dogs were welcomed back like old friends. I'm looking forward to my next visit...and I need to get that booked!

This pleasant detached house works well as a Guest House for different levels of need. At face value it is a well run establishment with caring and personable hosts. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the breakfasts provide a good tasty choice. For the casual visitor to this quiet part of England it represents a good base for relaxing/bird watching or cycling. It is also away from the beaten track and yet so convenient for access to the Lake District.
At another level it offers a superb start or finish point for the Hadrians Wall walk or cycle route and there is the added advantage of being able to record a challenge from Wallsend to Wallsend. The competent hosts, Lyn and Andy welcome guests whatever their state of euphoria or exhaustion on completion or excitement for the journey ahead. It is therefore a place with lots of comings and goings which guests can quietly observe or participate in.
The house is adjacent to open fields with the church almost next door and the village inn behind that. The inn is a favourite haunt for locals and offers visitors good straightforward food at excellent prices.
Lyn and Andy have three well behaved dogs plus two cats who are kept away from guests unless they request otherwise. The pets are well behaved and a loved part of the family.
This was our second visit and this time we stayed for three nights. It is somewhere we would always want to return to if staying in the area.
