“Decent pub at start/end of Hadrians route”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Good beer and decent pub food. The landlord is a bit brusqque but he's Cumbrian- what else would you expect. The foos is decent and considering they are the only pub in the village they do make an effort so give it a try.

“The best salmon anywhere”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Fantastic pub, good beer, if you are lucky enough to be there on a Salmon night have it. You will never taste the like. And...there is more, the fruit pies for dessert are unbeatable. Magnificent home made pastry with a choice of fruits.

“great meal”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Friendly pub with great food. We had the solway salmon with fresh veg, and the home-made individual fruit pies (made by the landlady's Mum) with custard. Both absolutely delicious.

“Fun, friendly, local”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

What a great way to end my Hadrian's Wall Walk, in a typical English pub. Tasty dinner, especially dessert! Friendly barman and the locals were having a good time. It may be the only place in town to eat, but it would be a great choice anyway!

“Walker's reward”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

The Kings Arms at Bowness on Solway is the unofficial place to meet people either just starting or who have just finished the Hadrian's Wall walk; so it is a great place to exchange tips and advice on walking the wall
