We stayed overnight on a trip elsewhere and had the fourposter room. The premises are near to the A40 but sufficiently sited to minimize noise. There is a kitchen with every conceivable utensil, a pool table, darts and a large sitting room with computer. The bed is extremely comfortable and there was a warm welcome and good breakfast. The owners try to think of everything even down to providing a jug of fresh milk for the coffee tray. The room has a huge good quality television. My only minor winges are that the toilet seat in the bathroom is too small for the excellent pan [toilets and seats come in different sizes - I lead a sad life!] and the fact that although the room has good curtains to darken the room there are two "Velux" skylights which do not have blinds so that the early sun gets in to wake the travelers!

Room Tip: Room 2 [four poster] is fun!

A vey very good B and B with wonderful hosts. We stayed in the same room as the previous reviewer (6 May) and can reliably inform all that they are wrong. Only one of the 3 windows didn't open and the "old flowers" were plastic!!
Very comfortable bed, very well stocked room, wonderful breakfast and an amazing 3D TV if you have time to relax!!
Would recommend to anyone.

We booked this B&B based on the good reviews on tripadvisor. We were, however, very disappointed and will not stay there again. It might have just been a matter of personal taste, though, as the owner did seem to make an effort and the place was reasonably clean. The bed was a a nice four-poster, but was too big for the room, which was quite small. There was a vase of dead flowers, a jar of ancient sweets and a clutter of other effects (some of which seemed personal to someone else, e.g. hairbrushes). The window was frosted and couldn't be opened, making the room oppressive to us. Didn't feel comfortable here and were glad to leave.

We stayed at Castle Lodge during a short trip to Wales exploring my ancestry. Our host was so easy-going and we were surprised when he told us that his mother named him after our American president, Lyndon Johnson. Lyndon was a fan of many American golfers and my husband enjoyed discussing golf with him! Our room was clean, large and beautiful and breakfast was perfect. If we return to Wales to continue discovering our Welsh ancestors, we will definitely go back to Castle Lodge.

We stayed for two nights and the two owners couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms are clean and incredibly comfortable. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a short break in the Brecon Beacons.
