Very large and pompous, but quiet hotel. Mostly crowded with retiree and families with children.
Apartments: our villa was OK - some cosmetic defects do not matter. Very spacious and convenient. The only thing that is good only for maids - double beds that consist of two beds with wheels that easy to move.
Food: is not various, there were a few days when sea food was served. Pieces of pork and chicken where not always well-done; We got a paper napkin in salad and a fly in yogurt...
There were a lot of flies despite of attempts of staff to cope with them.
Animation: lively animation for children and interesting for adults. Guys with darts were outstanding, but air shooters must improve their German humor sense :).
Service: responsive, but sometimes slow: a plumber man went to us after the second call (24 hours!).
Beach: sand and pebbles, it's better to use water shoes. Water was cool and salty. You can see a lot of crabs on the rocks around the beach.
We rent a car for 4 days: el Teide and loro park are highly recommended.
Despite of these little nothings we had admirable holidays in RIU.

Room Tip: Villas near the pool are not the best - some engines under the pool knock whole night, fried fish sm...

Stayed here for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. Staff were very friendly upon arrival and sorted us out straight away with check in and bottle of water. Getting to the room the view was amazing looking out over the pool but then straight onto the sea.

After sorting our luggage out we went for a little explore and a drink . Staff were all very friendly and the grounds were very clean and tidy along with the pools.
When we went for lunch in the main restaurant we were greeted with the supervisor and he said if there was anything he could do just to give him a shout and hope we enjoyed our stay.
The rest of the stay was brilliant no faults or issues, loved the free bus that takes you to the town for the day and we had a lovely day out which breaks up your holiday as this hotel isnt in a town not a fault though as thats why you get the amazing views.

The food was good always something for everyone also the chinese nite in the beach bar is a must its lovely.

Would definitely go back for longer next time

The hotel looks fantastic from the moment you pull into the driveway, the staff are really friendly and all speak like 5 different languages and it is really clean but that didn't stop the flies. Not sure why there were so many but they were a nightmare! Where ever you are they are everywhere and the last thing you want when your eating is flies buzzing around! But other than that the hotel was pretty good.
Both pools are pretty big with the kids pool being next to the top one, they do activities like aqua gym and water polo in the bottom pool everyday before lunch and neither of the pools have much of a deep end there is no place where an adult can't touch the floor. You don't need to take you own towels as there are bath and hand towels in the room and when you check in you are each given a card to get towels by the pool once you've used your towel you take it back and swap it for a fresh one! Sunbeds by the pools are a bit of an issue.. The good thing is security remove any towels from sunbeds before 8am but after that you have to be quick to get decent ones! There are loads of sunbeds but they are all really close togther and you'll find there will be loads of towels out and nobody there so its well worth putting some out before going for breakfast, there are a few roof terraces though with extra sunbeds and these are usually pretty quiet.
The breakfast looked great at first they had everything you need for a full English but don't expect it take taste like one! Obviously its all Spanish meat so doesn't taste like what you would get here, I'm sure if you asked the chefs they would cook the bacon more because its pretty much had half a second in a fryer its really greasy and pretty much raw. We didn't bother with breakfast most days after trying it and if we did we just had toast. Lunch and dinner in the main restaurant are pretty much the same there's always pasta and spaghetti with a tomato sauce and a cheese sauce, about 5 different pizzas, always chips and usually a different kind of potato, rice or paella, a different kind of fish and meat each day (although the meat is usually pork) bread rolls and thick crusty loaf, more fruit and salad than I can name and loads of little cakes and ice cream for desert.
At lunch there is usually someone going round booking people in for the themed restaurant, they do a Canarian night and an Italian night. These are well worth going to! The Italian night is obviously a lot of pizza, pasta, lasagne etc and the canarian night is a lot of meat and fish. The themed restaurant is right at the bottom looking out over the sea and from there the sunset is beautiful!
All inclusive drinks were really good! Including unlimited bottled water from reception, cocktails, coffee, sangria and obviously the usually wine beer and spirits. The pre mixed cocktails are all like slush puppies but if you speak to the bartender they will make you whatever you ask for!
The rooms are pretty much as you would expect from a 4* hotel, we stayed in a family room and it was pretty big! Nice balcony and an extra WC. The only problem I had with the room was that there wasn't a double bed just 2 singles pushed together.
There isnt really anything around the hotel other than a couple of pubs and supermarket shops but we heard that rui put on the best entertainment. This seems to be true for kids but of an evening the entertainment was really poor. This may have been because of the world cup, they played every game in the bar, but every night was a singer murdering songs so badly it didn't sound like he was singing in English.
All in all a great hotel for families and the older generation but not really for young couples.

We went there for one week to look after client and had all inclusive.
Overall it was satisfactory and Foods is excellent. No one got ill and they serve great dishes. Lovely drinks on offer too and good value.
Room was lovely with a side sea view. The mattress of bed was spring and it can be noisy. But apart from that I cannot fault it. For people who like quiet area This would be most suitable. free shuttle bus every day into town Playa de Las Americas. 20 mins drive.
Hotel got few shops on site for all neccessities needs even hairdresser Massage, Nails Parlour. Clothes etc Sweet shop Magazine.
Lovely staff work there practically all of them.
Two pools and Free lounger all day and towels provided.
Tour rep offer everything you want to go. Good advice.
Can't fault it.

This hotel rooms were mainly suites with many with sea views. The usual high standard demanded by this Chain of Hotels. Food choices were very good and very much suited to the European market. Each room had a balcony which had a table and 2 chairs as well as a sunbed + a clothes hanger for your damp swimwear. The Annimation team worked very hard and the children's Riuland club seemed to get the children a lot of entertainment and give parents a break to enjoy some time on their own. Transfer time form airport was around 30 mins, depending on wether they were mulit-drops at the various resorts inbetween.

Room Tip: Ask for any upgrade that might be available.

Extremely clean and well run hotel, lovely room, no mosquito bites!

Food very repetitious, , Has 2 restaurants but alternative one by seafront is poor. No drinks in fridge in room.

Myself and my wife stayed at this hotel from 13th to 20th June 2014, we picked a hotel that was close to the airport as we don't like long coach transfers, this was good as the coach transfer only took 20 minutes. The booking was for a "partial sea view" and I had requested a pool view on a high floor.

On arrival at the hotel we were promptly checked in, and went up to our room, the room was very good and is probably one of the best hotel rooms I have had in an all inclusive hotel. We had a perfect full sea view, which was much better than we expected, it was a large family room with 2 rooms, one of the rooms has a lounge area, TV and a separate toilet and the other has the beds and the main bathroom, both of the rooms has a sliding glass patio door that leads out onto a huge balcony with table and chairs and a sun lounger, the balcony is fantastic and ideal if you want to have some time away from the pool. The room was extremely clean and was kept very clean throughout our stay, I could not fault the maid service at all.

We requested a extra pillow and this was sorted quickly, during our stay we were called on three separate occasions from a lady in reception checking that everything was ok with our stay, she was so nice that I thought it may have been someone trying to sell me something! We also had a fault on the air conditioning which was sorted out without a problem.
The beds were extremely hard but we still slept well. One complaint in regards to the rooms, no drinks in the fridge (never known this in an all inclusive) Reception gives you free bottled water to take up, if i wanted something else I would have to go and get it from the bar and take it up to the room.

The hotel has four blocks housing the rooms we were in room B702 which is in block B that is the block the runs parallel with the sea, I would highly recommend this room as it has the great sea views and is also above the main hotel and amenities. (I have attached a picture of the hotel map in my review)

The hotel has a main restaurant and a separate one near the sea that does a mixture of "Italian" food and Canarian food depending on what day you go, you have to book this restaurant the previous day.
The food in the main restaurant is OK but gets repetitious, there is a fairly good choice of items but they don't change too much from day to day, In fairness though everything I had was enjoyable apart from the pasta which always seemed overcooked.
The staff in the restaurant are constantly checking the sections and replenishing the food when it gets low.

The alternative restaurant was very poor in our opinion, we went at 7pm on the so called italian night and the food was not good, the Pizza and salad items were good but all the same as the main restaurant but we noticed people queuing up for some lasagne so we joined them, I wished I hadn't as it was terrible and tasted like something out of a packet. We did not bother going back to this restaurant as it was better to eat in the main one.

Due to the lack of restaurant choice we ate out twice in the nearby Playa Paraiso at the Titanic Restaurant which was very nice and reasonably priced.

I found the drinks in the hotel to be of a very good standard, lots of cocktail choices and Amstel beer on tap that you pour yourself (there is a technique to this as you end up with a huge head on your beer, turn the tap on without the glass underneath and let the beer run for half a second then put the glass under and fill your glass, if you put the glass under straight away you will get half a glass of froth, it took me a couple of days to work this out!)
The hotel has a Pool bar, main bar and a bar where the entertainment is

Tenerife is volcanic and has black beaches and rocky coastline, there is a small beach by the hotel but it isn't great so we just stuck with the pool are (if the beach is a must, this is the wrong hotel for you)
The pool are was good and as long as we reserved a lounger before 9 am we had no problems, there is entertainment at the pool every so often but we didn't get involved.

The service from the staff at the hotel was absolutely fantastic, they greet you constantly and could not be more helpful. The resort is kept very clean and tidy and it it obvious that the staff work very hard. My only one comment regarding cleaning is that the main toilets (especially the pool toilets) appear to need a bit more regular cleaning.

We used the courtesy bus to Playa Las Americas but only stayed for 1 hour as we did not like the place, shabby in places and rather a lot of homeless people. A taxi back to the hotel cost 16 Euro.

Overall we had a nice holiday but due to the issues with the food I would probably have given 3 stars, but the staff and the hotel itself make up for this, we would definitely stay at a Riu again.

To all the staff at the hotel thank you and keep up the good work!

Room Tip: B702 was a great room in every way. ask for a higher floor to escape the noise from pool ask for a...

Arrival - late in evening plenty of happy helpfull staff on reception, took ur details n passport told us to go to the bar have a drink n come back 15 mins and we would be booked in and could go to restaurant for food, that's exactly how it went, no queuing hanging around perfect.
Our Room - two keys door n safety deposit box which was free (have always had to pay) plenty of space with a put me up bed in main room, big bedroom n en suite bathroom, balcony was massive, it was cleaned every day with fresh towels, air con a god send n free lol.
Restaurant - food was ok but couldn't of eaten there for longer than a week, repetitive really but always lots of it, got quite busy at times but there is an overflow part which is ideal.
Drinks - served or help yourselves lots of variety and no restrictions to how many u took, peanuts n olives too.
Pool Towels - you get a card on check in and you change towels the next day which is ideal.
Pool - 2 pools which are clean and good sizes and plenty of beds n parasols for everyone. Entertainment - Day was ok, they came around n saying what was on but the evening down stairs awful shocking, if I could have swatted them like I was swatting flies I would have lol.
Staff - I have to say were brilliant from reception to the cleaners and they were all chatty and happy, always happy to help and things were sorted out straight away.
All in all the hotel was what we wanted for a perfect chill out week.
