“Return visit 8/10”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

e spent one night at the Premier Inn Rochester after a visit to Diggerland and Chatham Dockyard.

This was our second visit to this hotel.

The hotel is ideally situated for the Medway leisure area and Diggerland just being a few minutes drive away.

Check in was automated via computer screen which was easy to follow and quick. There was also someone on reception the whole time of our stay to help with queries.

Our room was located on the first floor. Overlooking the side of the hotel and bin area, close to the railway. The room was very clean, tidy and spacious. There was a king sized double bed plus single bed, tv, desk, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities etc.

The bathroom was good, quite modern and very clean. The cleaners had overlooked a couple of wet towels which were hanging behind the door from a previous occupant. These were removed promptly by the receptionist when mentioned.

We did not eat at the hotel as we drove to nearby Rochester for a meal in the town. We had one drink in the bar during the evening upon our return. It was very busy, drinks were average price, and a few places to sit were available.

Personally, I didn’t have a good night sleep due to a noisy occupant in the room above, who was stomping about at 2.30am. Otherwise the room was quiet, no noise from the railway or road and the bed was comfortable. The room was a little hot but we could open the window and the aircon was adjustable and once altered the temperature became comfortable.

This hotel is in a convenient location and we would return. Next time I think a room on the top floor would be better. The receptionist (Aimee) was very helpful and suggested we call ahead next time to ensure a quiet… top floor room.

Room Tip: Top floor if you don't want to be disturbed by late night travellers above you!

Nice modern and clean hotel, staff are friendly but a little clueless when presented with a problem.
Booked for 2 nights and wanted to extend to 3 BUT, they wanted to charge me double the previous nights, when I asked for an explanation they refered to the computer as the boss and quoted "policy" I have never been able to come to grips with Premiers pricing policy but DOUBLE for the same room which was clearly empty. Of course we decided not to stay a third night and the irony, we were going to book dinner with some guests and again for breakfast the following morning. We also asked to be at the front of the hotel because we know the rear can be noisy next to the train line, this didn't transpire either. Stayed 15th and 16th August 2014. Need to review your "policies" Premier and train the staff a little better.

Everyone you came into contact with we're very helpful & friendly. From the time we checked in, they couldn't do enough for us. Explaining everything clearly & checking that our stay was enjoyable, comfortable & if there was anything they could do for us. Superb food in the restaurant & great facilities. Good wifi connection. The room was very clean with everything we needed for our short stay. The mattress was on the firmer side but that's only because we are used to a softer one but this didn't affect our stay at all.

We stayed after visiting the War & Peace show at Folkestone. Really nice room. Bit strange checking in by machine ( I'm oldskool). Room, bed linen & bathroom was spotlessly clean. Comfy large bed. Room on the top floor overlooked the railway line but you'd barely know it - its only a branch line , not Eurostar swooshing through. We ate in the restaurant which was very nice. American themed restaurant & McDonalds opposite if you don't want to eat on site.

Chosen as a drop off point before channel crossing this hotel was a pleasant surprise. Very good value. Clean and comfortable with good dinner and breakfast and pleasant staff. We have stayed twice and will stay again. Close to Rochester which has lots of antique shops and a castle, it really is a great find.
