“An emerald gem of a setting”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We had hired a driver/guide for a tour of the Bay of Kotor and he recommended this place for our lunch stop. Off the beaten track, we would have never found this restaurant on our own. As everyone else commented, the setting is beautiful, lush, green and serene.

It was a very hot and humid day so we chose a table that overlooks a pond with ducks paddling about. The table was set nicely and the waiter attentive but sadly, the food was so-so. I ordered a bowl of the seafood bisque and a mixed green salad. Both were tasty and light, just perfect for a hot day. My husband had chicken kabobs and potato salad. Really the kabobs were simply chunks of sauteed chicken on a stick, no seasoning or sauce. The potato salad looked promising but had so much green onion in it that it was all you could taste.

I still recommend a stop here. It is a very special place to dine but I would order something simple and not take the chance on ruining an expensive dinner by unskilled kitchen staff.

“Well worth the commute from Kotor”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

My friend and I only learned about this place from a colleague who had gone there during his honeymoon. As we were staying Dobrota, the commute by car to the restaurant took approximately 20 minutes. The drive was well worth it as it gave us the opportunity to marvel at the mountains and Kotor Bay as we drove half way around it.

Although we went to the restaurant during the day (the pics on the internet of the restaurant at night time look superb), we found it to be picturesque and tranquil in an authentic natural setting. Whilst there was a very quaint indoor place to eat, we sat outside in the section that extended over their river/stream. We could hear the water running from the mill whilst looking at the mountains and watching the ducks in the river.

If one wanted to explore whilst waiting for the food, it would have been possible to cross over some footbridges or climb some stairs into the forest (although there is a sign that warns you of the possibility of encountering reptiles, etc.).

The service was great, as was the food. However, if you are vegetarian, there was only 1 dish available out of the many other non-vegetarian options. But, I'm sure there would have been no problem selecting a dish and requesting it be without meat/sea food.

The prices aren't cheap (expect to pay atleast 10 euros for your main dish), but they are reasonable for what the restaurant offers.

“Can't beat the setting and the food isn't too bad either”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Like everyone else, this is a gem of a restaurant located just a bit off the beaten path. We visited at the end of a long day trip to Montenegro and it was perfect. The setting is unique. Streams and bridges, birds, even a few peacocks. After you order your food, you can walk around and enjoy nature. Lovely.

As for the food, we splurged and ordered the sea bass baked in salt. The fish tasted fine, but the really fun part was having our very efficient and friendly server wheel it out, break off the salt, peel off the skin, debone, and serve it. A fun experience. We also got beef cream soup and it was terrific. I would absolutely recommend Catovica and would love to return again. One of those unique meals we will always remember.

“Best restaurant in Kotor Bay”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

We had a lunch there that was remarcable, we were 6 people, everybody had diferent things but we all were amased by the quality of the food. I had a risotto Mirakul and a Shrimp creamy broth that were ubsolutely delicous. The prices are fair for what you receive. The service is great and the view is spectacular. This is a must visit place, definetly we will be comming back here.
