Stayed at the Tower Arms Hotel..We had a dirty room and very smelly.
My fault i didn`t say anything but i knew that my wife and i would only be sleeping there and not
staying in the room all day and night.
We opened the back door of our room, what a mess it was like a rubbish tip.We had a poor night
nights sleep because the bed was old and when you moved in made a squeaking noise.
Then we went to breakfast which was an extra £5.95 for a fried breakfast which i fault was very poor value for money, then my wife found a big long hair under her fried egg.
She complained to three different people, but nothing was done.
So my advice is STAY AWAY FROM THIS POOR OUTDATED HOTEL. No value for money. Some rooms have the shower at the end of your bed.Stay well clear..

Stayed here as a guest with my family and was the most horrendous and enjoyably experience. From the moment we arrived Joe "the manager" was rude and confusing to talk with.
The rooms were old, smelly and outdated for the amount of money we payed. The bathroom was carpeted-yes as in the floor was lined with carpet! I mean how in your right mind would you justify carpeting a bathroom!! I dread to imagine the fecal matter and germs that have landed on that carpet over the years.
After enjoying the family event we attended we went up to the three rooms we had booked. A little incident happened that one of the keys to the room broke in the key hole so two people were without a room. So we went downstairs to tell reception only to be met by a locked door - we were LOCKED upstairs!!
The only way downstairs was to go through the fire exit door-so we did. Only to be met a a barricade of tables and chairs stacked up blocking the doorway to reception. We finally got to reception to be met by a dark empty room with no one on reception!! Basically we dialled random numbers on the phone and some Steve guy answered the phone who turned out to be the night porter. Steve found a rusty single bed and flung it into the other room for two people to sleep on it....
In the morning I was expecting an apology maybe at a push free breakfast for the group! I was met by the greeting of "well whose paying for the rooms then"?
I calmly explained our situation of being locked outta the rooms, the key breaking, being locked upstairs, no one around to help us....The manager was having none of it, it was our fault for breaking the key, we were roaming around his hotel at night which was unacceptably. He then wanted to charge us for the rusty single bed Steve flung into the other room. So in the end he threatened to call the police. We left never paid for the unused room.
Horrendous experience, rude manager, no concept of customer service, manky rooms or having a contingency plan for emergency.
Stay here if you want to experience a severe headache and to laugh at the manager at work!

Our daughter got married last Saturday 25th June 2011 and we had our reception with approximately 100 people at this Hotel. We cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. From when we first looked around the venue to the end of the wonderful day Joe, the Manager of the Tower Arms Hotel and his wife Claire who works tirelessly behind the scenes, ensured the day went without a hitch and couldn't have done more for us. Each timing they estimated happened dead on time so we didn't have to worry about a thing.
The hot fork buffet food was amazing and our guests, many of whom had been to weddings at Stately homes and Mansions all commented that the food was far better than the sit down meals which are normally very standard and very boring. The venue has a lovely garden with really well looked after hanging baskets and pots which was ideal for our guests to spill out onto.
If you are looking for a reasonable wedding venue and do not want to be ripped of by people who just see pound signs when they hear of a wedding then the Tower Arms is the place for you. The real ales are lovely and the position of it gives a real country feel.
We booked the 10 rooms which the hotel has and all of our guests said for the price they were very comfortable and the cooked breakfast was excellent.
So a very big thank you to The Tower Arms Hotel for helping make our daughter's wedding day a roaring success.
