Spent a night here when visiting Shirley and it's location was perfect, very central on main road. Luckily no noise from the road, or the pub adjoining the premier inn. Had dinner at the pub which was two for one. Standard pub fare, service a bit slow, but no problems. Room was clean and comfortable but strong air freshener smell as if someone had been smoking and the staff had tried to mask the smell. Bed comfortable and heating adjusted to suit. Staff friendly and pleasant.

It's not exactly luxury, but it is cheap, clean, comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Free car parking and our room was much bigger than expected. Only problem with the room was that it was cold, even when turning the electric heater right up it didn't make much difference due to the size of the room. The bed was very comfy and we slept well. There was a lot of noise in the morning though so didn't quite manage a lie in! The adjoining pub was great, I believe it has recently been renovated. Great food and two for one on all main meals. We didn't opt to have breakfast as £12 a head is a bit steep when you are trying to have a budget stay....the free wifi also only lasts 30 mins. You can get free wifi in the adjoining pub though if you sign up with them. We would definitely stay again.

A pleasant-looking building with plenty of car parking space and friendly staff. The scuffed paintwork in the entrance made it look shabby but the room was spacious, well designed, comfortable, clean and attractive. Noise was not a problem except perhaps at 11 o'clock at night with the windows open.

The adjoining pub/restaurant was uninspiring but the breakfast room was pleasant and relaxing. However, the cutlery was the greasiest I've ever seen. You could change a gear box with the amount of grease on the knives.

I changed my accommodation requirements slightly which entitled me to a £6 refund but their card machine wasn't working and I had to prompt them to make the refund a week later.

I stay here once a year for a football game and generally would not comment on the place one way or another but the staff here should not go unmentioned. The welcome we got on arrival was exceptional, although we were very early and only wanted to drop our bag the lady insisted she arrange a room for us.At breakfast the following morning the lady serving was brilliant.
Room were basic but clean and had everything you might need.Great value.

We stayed for one night only, four people two rooms cost £86.00 for all four! The hotel itself could do with a little tlc, but the beds and facilities are good just as it states in their TV ads.

The most outstanding highlight of our short stay there was the receptionist, Joy by name joy by nature. This lady couldn't have been more polite, helpful and a lovely smile nothing was too much trouble. I sincerely hope that Premier Inn head office realise what an asset they have with this lady. The remaining staff that we did come into contact with were all helpful. I would stay there again.

We booked at this location because it was it was in the best position for a family gathering. We were a bit worried having read some poor reports particularly about the adjoining pub.
However we were pleasantly surprised. The lady receptionist was a real gem, very welcoming and helpful. We asked her for directions to a nearby place, she was not sure but said she would find out. 15 minutes later an envelope was pushed under our door with a printout of directions that we needed. Now that is excellent service, she is a credit to the company.
She said that we were allocated a room on the ground floor at the end of a corridor so we would not be disturbed by passing guest, because we were staying for three nights. Again very thoughtful.
The pub had been refurbished and was very different to the previous reviews read here.
The food was what is expected in a pub,it is not a restaurant. All the staff in the pub and accommodation were very pleasant and helpful.
Car parking in the public area was free to guests and the bus service into the city was very frequent with the stop nearby.
All in all a good experience the accommodation was well used but was clean and what is expected at a Premier Inn.
Recommend!
