Given the limited number of food options on the island outside of Tarbert, I was truly surprised at how nice this little spot was! Quality food and drink, noticeboards with local information for visitors, clean and comfortable decor... one couldn't ask for more. This was easily the best restaurant we visited in the Outer Hebrides and would not have been out of place in a bigger city on the mainland.

We ate here twice when we were on the island; the first time we were doing a circuit and scouting out the ferry times, and the second before our ferry departed. Ingredients were largely fresh and local, which contributed to its charm.

If you're visiting near key meal times, you may have to book - it's clear that locals and visitors alike come here for a nice dinner, and they had a few large parties there.

Wifi was stable (a luxury on the islands!) and they had a spot next to the table where I was able to charge my phone - again, another luxury for those of us wild camping!

Highly recommended

We visited at 6.30pm on a monday for a table of 8.

Majority of seafood unavailable - please let the customer know when you give them the menus rather than returning after 10 mins to take the order only to find they'd picked all the item you dont have.

Wait for food - the restaurant was not busy when we arrive but it was 30 mins before we received our starters. Its was nearly a futher 50 minutes between our starters being cleared and our mains arriving.

Quality of cooking and delivery - the tempura starters we disappointingly greasy like an average chip shop and more vegetable than seafood (one starter only got one prawn - we had to wait a further 30 mins for 2 more prawns to be served; by which time everyone else had finished and the plates were cleared.).
The fillet steaks were all burnt. Not just well done, but a solid layer of charcoal where the chef had forgotten about them. Whilst we sent the worst back, these should never have been served as they we're clearly unpresentable. They replacement steak was cooked perfectly.
The children's fish and chips was disappointing. Given the great reviews we had read for the quality of the seafood and fried fish, this was not good enough.

What was right - the gin infused salmon was very tasty. I should have ordered more of that.

Summary - we spoke to the owner at the end who said they had a trainee chef in that night who was struggling to deliver. Nothing was taken off our bill of over £200. The food was priced at mainland city centre prices but was not worth the money.
This may have been a bad night for the Anchorage, but based on our experience and inattentive service (no one checked to see if our meal was okay) we would not return.

We are here after our trip to St Kilda, and or was exactly what we needed. Really tasty food and friendly staff.
Menu is a mix of classic dishes like fish and chips and burgers and more delicate tastes from the specials board.
If you like seafood you won't know where to begin.
Highly recommend.

We visited during a week long stay in Harris. It was very busy on a Thursday evening, we didn’t book but they squeezed us in, I’d recommend booking! I had whitebait followed by gorgeous seafood skewers, monkfish, prawns, langoustines and scallops all perfectly cooked. Served with lovely fries. Perfection, with lovely sea views too.

My friend and I ate here for dinner during a one night stay in Leverburgh. The restaurant is well located and a short walk from the ferry terminal. The building is located on the waterside and the views are fab especially as we had some sun that evening it made it all very special. The food was tasty and lots of it also good value for money. The staff very friendly and attentive. Well worth a visit!
