Owner description: A town of Art and HistoryMedieval city of ConflansTo enter Conflans by the “Porte de Savoie” is to enter into history. Streets and alleways have stayed the same as the time of the Green Count, Amédée VI, count of Savoy. On the Roman road from Milan to Vienna via the Petit Saint Bernard pass, Conflans witnessed the passage of merchants, peddlers, and pilgrims.Today, Conflans welcomes you all year round in its maze of narrow streets, on its shady terraces full of flowers, and in its colourful boutiques.

There was a cheerful welcome from students in medieval dress at the entrance but the village owed a lot to cement and paint rather than real restoration. Most of the artisan shops were closed. The square was filled with restaurants with basically the same menu. The view over Albertville was the best part of the visit

“Pretty little village to visit”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

There are several car parks on the road leafdng to Conflans ranging from a shortish walk up a hill or steps to being almost level...if you're not greatly mobile, keep driving up the hill till you can go no further. There are public toilets just up an alley off the main square. There are also various cafes in the square and the museum. You can pick up a town map/plan in the tourist office in Albertville or download it from the Albertville tourism website. The garden at Conflans which has vine covered walkways and looks out high over Albertville is nice to sit and have a picnic. Inside the church is beautiful too if you can take a look.

“Pity The Museum Or Gallerie Were Not Open”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

About a 15 minute walk just on the outskirts of Albertville up a not too steep road. You can drive to the car parks if you wish just below the town itself. Despite the signs saying it's pedestrianized. It Isn't. Lots of cars motorcycles ect use the roads in the centre. Probably the locals. I was there about 12.30 to 1.30 on a Saturday, and neither of the sites which should have given information about it's history were open. That was a real let down. It is an interesting diversion if you have an hour to spare around Albertville.

Must see in Albertville. Nice medieval town on the top of the hill. Good sightseeing over the city, museum, old square with small restaurants.

“Nice, even in the rain”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

We visited this charming Medieval town just a short drive up from Albertville. It is mainly pedestrianised with lovely streets, panoramic views, an ancient town, pretty church and several reasonably priced restaurants. The museum, La Maison Rouge, was worth a visit.
