“Idyllic seclusion with glorious views”
Reviewed 27 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We were looking for an inexpensive holiday to Spain, having been many times we knew the coast reasonably well. So this villa was something of a gamble, being slightly inland and into the hills, booked directly[with Rita] and a far cry from the usual faceless commercial booking.
We flew into Malaga, picked a car up and trundled eastwards along the motorway, taking the turning for Algarobbo and heading up the mountain to Sayalonga. It’s 8 kilometres up a very scenic and winding road to Sayalonga, a sleepy whitewashed village in the hills, where we met Rita and Charles to be shown the way. It’s a further 3 kilometres to the villa along some basic and even more winding and more scenic tracks. I know it’s 3 km as I ran down to the village for bread each morning - a great workout before cooling off on the pool.
The villa was a pleasant surprise - with a stunning aspect the view was breathtaking every time you step out of the door and plunge into the pool. We were there in August and it was hot. The girls leapt straight into the pool and remained there most of the week.
The villa was clean and reasonably equipped for anything we wanted to cook up - Rita’s welcome pack was a nice touch as we arrived quite late.
It’s off the beaten track and quite secluded and private which was lovely. But it’s not far from Nerja, the caves and the Aquavelis waterpark which was fun, so if you want to join the masses they’re less than half an hour away!
We had a great time - thanks!

“Amazing villa”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a great holiday in July at Casa Gardo.

A very nice villa which is spacious, clean and tidy with a lovely big modern bathroom, it also has a great outdoor area with pool perfect for relaxing in the sunshine and the views are amazing (just like the photographs).

We were met by Rita and Charlie, top people, they showed us the way, which is a bit of a twisty drive up a narrow lane but after we'd done it once we found it great fun. Rita and Charlie were friendly and helpful, explaining everything in detail and giving us some good tips and advise for eating out in the area. It was a great comfort to know they were close by if we needed assistance.

All in all a fantastic holiday, we would be happy to recommend Casa Gardo and hope to return soon.

“Stunning views”
Reviewed 22 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

We stopped 25th Jan to 8th Feb 2014 the weather was good average 19 degrees reaching 28 on day. The villa was spacious and very warm on the cool nights, with an ample supply of wood for the fire. The agents Rita and Charlie could not be faulted for their help with any of our questions. The views were by far the best we have seen in Andalusia with stunning views of the coast from the front and snow capped mountains behind. Watching the coast line change as the sun went down will stay with me forever. The whole experience staying at the villa was amazing. This is one place I would love to stay again

“Fabulous - spacious, well kept, private - and what views!”
Reviewed 30 July 2013 for a stay in September 2012

My partner and I stayed here Sept 2012. Fab viilla, really tucked away up the side of a mountain, loads of room to spread out, truly amazing views of the coast. Was just as described and just what we wanted.

Weather was beautiful - just starting to cool a bit but still hot. The pool got used almost all day on some days, and at least for an hour every day. We got some inflatables and beers, got soem tunes and a BBQ on the go and chilled right out.

You will definitely need a car to stay here, it's a few miles from the nearest shops, although there's a lovely little restaurant around the corner run by a friendly German couple, great food, prices and atmosphere. The people who look after the villa are a really sweet couple - expats Rita and Charlie - who really took care of us.

The only slight downside to staying here is that it is really like England in Spain - British expat central. We prefer to immerse ourselves in another culture when travelling or going on hols but if that does not bother you or if you prefer not to have to bother with language problems etc. I cannot recommend Casa Gardo highly enough. And if you want to do more than stay in the villa make sure to have a schedule of things to see and do as it really is in the middle of nowhere here - you can't just wander up the road for entertainment, bar the restaurant.

We hired a car online at Record Spain through holiday autos and had a horrific experience - the queue to get the car was longer than the flight from London to Malaga! Extremely rude and unhelpful staff, T&Cs misleading, car scratched and battered (but not acknowledged on forms) and a throughly unpleasant start to the holiday. For just another £30 we could have gone with Avis or similar - no queues and helpful, polite desk staff. If you can - avoid Record Spain for car hire!
