My wife, sister-in-law, and I had a wonderful experience at the Ocean Pearl. Truly remarkable.
The condo is right on a sparkling strip of beach. Besides a few sand pipers and an occasional crab, there was no one else to be seen in either direction. The little pier that juts out into the water has a ladder that makes it simple for even novice snorkelers to enter the ocean. Once in the water, you will be shocked how many fish swarm around you.
We spent hours working up and down our own “private” reef. The water was crystal clear, the coral was healthy, and it looked as though no one had ever been there before. For those who want 101-level family snorkeling, it was perfect. We were told that another 100 feet out we’d find the reef wall and a 100 foot drop. We didn’t have time to take a look…and had little reason to bother—there was just too much to see in shallow water where you could stand up and adjust your mask, if you needed to.
When we returned to the condo, we luxuriated in a staggering array of amenities. Stove, oven, microwave, blender, toaster, washer, dryer, cable TV (both HBO and MAX), great air conditioning, and stable high-quality internet. We had better meals at home than we could find in any of the local restaurants. The cabinets had salt, pepper, and spices. There were even two different types of coffee maker! There were two lovely porches (both looking over the ocean), a hose for washing off snorkel, and a drying rack for our bathing suits. When we didn’t feel like snorkeling, we could jump in the pool. It was cleaned professional several times, during our visit.
Comfy beds, an array of couches and little soft blankets for snuggling. The biggest couch turned into a sleeper bed—with two and a half bathrooms (and a Jacuzzi in the master bath) we could easily have put up another family if we’d wanted to.
Everything was clean and simple. Yes, there were flowers and shells here and there—but everything was tasteful and calm. Plenty of room for parking, pretty flowering bushes on all sides, and lots of birds chirping in the background.
My wife asked me to count. I’ve been to fifteen other Caribbean islands in the past and stayed in many hotels and condos. This was the best, most relaxing, most comfortable place I’ve ever been. Thanks from all of us to Angela and her manager and cleaning team. They’ve created a truly wonderful experience for those of us what want to visit Grand Cayman.
