We stayed in the studio for 3 nights - our second stay here. You couldn't want more. For £80 a night we had an open-plan living room, dining room and small kitchen (which included an oven with grill and hob, a fridge and a washing machine); nice sized double bedroom with wardrobe and chest of drawers plus roomy bedside cabinets; and an en suite shower room. The continental (prepare it yourself) breakfast included croissants, bread, butter and sunflower spread, a large selection of marmalades, jams, marmite, peanut butter and honey; a selection of cereals, fresh fruit (including melon and grapes), yoghurt, and three different fruit juices. Apart from good quality instant coffee, three different types of teabags were provided - and two packets of biscuits. Had you wanted to prepare a cooked breakfast you had only to ask for the ingredients to be provided.
We chose to prepare our own evening meals on two of the nights which all worked out well - but, as you are warned, the smoke alarm is sensitive so some nifty footwork is required to turn it off! A delightful, relaxing, stay.

Room Tip: There are also two annexes at Deep Thatch which would be equally comfortable but the studio is above...

A two day stay was a joy. The proprietors were very welcoming and helpful. The accommodation was as described and very clean a real home from home with plenty of room. I would definitely use this lovely B&B again.

I stayed in the Annexe for four nights and it is a perfect place for a business traveler like me. There is a fridge and a table and a microwave and all the necessities for a good breakfast are provided. I like being left alone during my trips as well as the conveninece of eating at 6 AM in the morning if I want to and not having to wait to be served breakfast. The bedroom is a bit tiny but perfectly comfortable with a TV and a hairdryer. You can hear noises from the owners kitchen from time to time but it wasn't intrusive. The owners were delightful, helpful and very kind. The village is gorgeous. I took a walk one sunny evening down a lane with thatched cottages and into the churchyard. Magical!

Room Tip: If you are travelling alone then the annexe is perfectly adequate, A bit small for a couple I would...

Thank you for your comments and I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay here and Rodmell.
The 'Annexe' is the smallest of my rooms, anyone wanting more space should also look at the 'Old Stable' or 'Studio'.

Stayed in the studio above the double garage for two nights, really well equipped accommodation. Peaceful location with great walks on the doorstep!! Lewes and Brighton nearby. Friendly welcome great if you want a bit more space than a standard B & B.

We have just arrived back from a weekend at the Deep Thatch Cottage, Stable Block.

Carol, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and for your kindness and understanding about our very late arrival.

The beds are COMFORTABLE, and, the rooms were incredibly clean, and cosy warm. It was wonderful also, getting up in our own time for breakfast. What a very good selection you gave us to choose from.

We will most certainly be coming back, and wandering up to 'Pub' to test the menu again.

We will also highly recommend people we know to stay with you.

Kind regards
Valerie and James London

We stayed in the studio apartment for a week at the end of May 2012. The apartment is above the garage overlooking the garden and Deep Thatch Cottage, a charming mid 17th c. structure which is the home of the owners. The studio's exterior is in keeping with the style of the village but the interior has all the modern conveniences you could wish, and is thoughtfully furnished (and very clean). At check in the kitchen is stocked with all the makings for continental breakfast and also has a full supply of cookware and dishes should you wish to prepare a meal or two during your stay. Stop at one of the nearby farm shops for fresh produce and bread. Perfect location for visiting Monk's House, Charleston, Sissinghurst, Lewes and exploring Sussex. And last - a word about the owners/hosts - they struck a perfect balance between allowing privacy and providing assistance and information about local attractions in a very warm and friendly way. Would not hesitate to return nor to recommend to friends and family.

An excellent welcome awaits anyone looking for w night stop before taking the ferry from Newhaven. It is just inside the village of Rodmell with a pub where you can get great evening meals. The B&B's owners are very helpful and the B&B has all the comforts needed for a pleasant stay. They even supply everything for a Full English, although you do have to cook it yourself, but this is great as there was more than plenty. They gave us sheltered covering for our bikes too. There is a nice amble around the village to walk off the pub grub too. Don't get too excited at Virginia Woolf's house as it is as dull as her novels!!! But enjoy your stay!
