Just got back from Nicholas Studios which were clean and well appointed. Room 1 where we stayed is great for privacy and views Great location with access to beach and Skiathos town. If you cross the road opposite Lalaria Hotel and head into town off the main road you will pass great beach tavernas with stunning views. Mark and Lucy were the Pool Bar team who couldn't do enough for us. Great Greek bbq at Hotal Gallini.Plans for next year at the Pool Bar will add to the ambiance. Shame we brits cannot rebook as not available through Thomson next year. Mark and Lucy do know whats happening!!!!. Perhaps a little extra holiday company info on access into town would help with British revisit bookings as we don't all decide to hire a car.Excellent bus service if needed.

Just read a bad review on the nicholas and felt i had to write something!

I went to the nicholas with a friend in June and had the best holiday I've had for years, in fact, we're planning on returning in September! Yes, the accommodation is basic, but, its clean and you do get what you pay for, and as has been said, you don't go on holiday to sit in the room. The pool area is kept clean and is pretty much empty most of the time, so its like having your own private pool, its great, and Babis, the bar manager, is wonderful and will do anything for you. As for Mark, well, he's probably one of the best barmen i've ever come across. Great fun, knows everything about the island and was always there with advice on where to eat, what to see etc. Watch out for the 'Mark measures' with the spirits though... and ask him to make mojitos, that'll cheer him up!

So if you are going to this hotel don't worry, its lovely and the staff are absolutely fantastic! Oh, and definitely go to the barbecue night in Galini, for 10euros its worth it for food alone and the entertainment is great.

We stayed here at the Nicholas for two of the most relaxing weeks ever, and really enjoyed our stay the staff are very friendly although do not speak very good english(with the exception of Mark- who is English!!) but they do try . Rooms very clean towels and linen changed every couple of days Babis cleaned the pool every morning because we watched him from our balcony, you could get a really tasty well prepared snack at the pool bar cooked by either Babis or Mark ,as for "Mark's condom fund" if the other review writer had turned round the pot she would see the it said "Mark's new laptop fund " the condom sign was a bit of fun. The appartments are typically Greek, very clean but basic, but you don't go on holiday to stay in your room.. do you ?? well we certainly don't !! Fabulour restaurants down on the beach especially the Thessaloniki and Mira Mare we had some delicious meals here looking out to sea - excellent. Or you can easily walk into Skiathos town in about 20minutes strolling through the back streets ,which is much safer than walking on the road. All in all a fabulous holiday made better by Babis- the pool bar manager a lovely lovely man, and especially Mark a fabulous young man who knows just about everything , a lot better informed than the rep - who works the pool bar in the evenings - call and have a drink with him , he also makes a mean toastie , but it's gotta be before 8pm if you want food. So if you have booked here please don't worry its a lovely place.

Having stayed at the Nicholas apartments in both 2006 and 2007 we had no reservations about booking the apartments again to take our teenage children for a week this year. Foolishly I did not check out Trip Advisor before booking again, something which we now regret massively.

On arrival I immediately suspected something was amiss when visting the pool bar I noticed a container on the bar labelled 'Mark's Condom Fund' - perhaps what you expect on an 18-30 trip, but not a Thomson family holiday. This pretty much set the standard for our stay.

In summary, if you book these apartments expect a skanky pool with sun loungers that are unclean and falling apart, very dated and substandard accommodation (bathrooms with exposed pipes, toilet seats that are coming off, kitchens that I would not cook a thing in) and huge cracks in the walls (making me wonder whether the place was actually structurally sound!).
