Reviewed 7 September 2013

I don't know where to start, its a fabulous small hotel owed by Jose and Clara. the rooms and facilities are great. the food is all home made and worth driving miles for. it was so good I asked Clara to marry me by Jose said no. Jose explained in great detail all about the area, Both Jose and Clara were great hosts assisted by young Pablo. we will be back

We booked after reading the reviews and were very pleased we did. A delightful hotel in a lovely village. The hosts were brilliant nothing too much bother food excellant. Breakfast was freshly cooked even the empanadillas. Couldn't do it justice and they even asked if we wanted to take some of the lovely cakes with us en route.

My wife, our 14 years old son and I stayed at La Alqueria for a couple of nights in July. The hotel, the village and surrounding areas all exceeded our expectations. The hotel was tasteful, with nicely decorated and clean rooms. The village had a real medieval charm overlooking the beautiful Matarrana river. A number of nearby medieval villages were perfect for day trips. However what really makes this place unique are the hospitality of the owners, Jose and Clara, and Clara's cooking talent. Jose and Clara are exceptionally warm and friendly. You feel more like a visiting family member (of the welcoming kind :-)) than a paying guest. Our son had a great time with local kids, playing football (soccer) with them during the day and chilling out in the evening. Jose took upon himself to relieve any apprehension that we might have had with our son being on his own in an unknown surroundings. Jose did that by contacting some of the older local kids he knew and making them responsible for our son's wellbeing. It's not that we were really concerned seeing how friendly and good natured the local kids were. Nonetheless we really appreciated Jose's gesture. When it comes to day trips, Jose has an in-depth knowledge of the local area and would patiently share it with you. Clara's cooking deserves a mention of its own. It's simply breathtaking, a culinary art, a hidden gem found in a tiny Aragon village. It's not an over-statement to say that for only having a meal at La Alqueria's restaurant would be worth visiting Rafales. You get creative, exquisite meals served in generous portions for a more than reasonable price. La Alqueria can easily be a culinary peak of your Spanish vacation like it was in our case. We are definitely looking forward to visiting La Alqueria again.

This was our second visit to Jose & Clara's wonderful little hotel. We only stayed for 1 night on our first trip and vowed that we would return to this beautiful part of hidden Spain. we very glad we did as there are lovely little towns to explore and the countryside is wonderful. Clara's cooking was exceptional again and I am now trying to lose the extra pounds I gained on our trip! This time we stayed for 2 nights and Jose will do everything he can to make your stay as comfortable as possible, even mending a broken wing mirror on our hire car! if you are anywhere near this area on your travels make sure you stay here!

Loved it here, this is a great small hotel in a lovely little village about 25 minutes from Alcaniz.
Jose and Clara are excellent hosts who really make you feel at home. Jose is so helpful and wants to make sure your stay is the best it can be and Clara cooks the most fantastic meals, the presentation of all dishes was exceptional, everything we ate was worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. 3 course dinner with bottle water, wine and coffee is 23 euros per person. The rooms are lovely bright, modern and very clean with an ample sized bathroom. The surrounding villages are definitely worth a visit. We will return

This small hotel is very welcoming. Jose was extremely helpful pointing us in the right direction of all the sightseeing that there is in the Matarrana region ( the "Tuscany "of Spain) The room was very clean and comfortable. Clara's cooking was very imaginative and excellent. We really enjoyed our stay.

We arrived on 3 motorcycles, wet and tired, to be met by Jose, with a beaming smile and warm welcome. The hotel is off the beaten track in a small, ancient Spanish village reached by winding, hairpin roads and through stunning countryside. The hotel is superb, modern and up to date. Our rooms - the family suite of two bedrooms and a shared bathroom - were amazing, smart, well-equipped and comfortable. Clara's cooking is the best - the pig cheeks were fantastic, and the wine chosen by Jose just kept flowing. We stayed for an extra night and spent a day following the route Jose gave us of the Teruel area, which should not be missed, it is one of the most beautiful and historic parts of Spain. Our second evening was one we shared with the village, celebrating a First Communion in the square outside the Hotel which was wonderful.
A jewel in Spain - thank you Jose and Clara, you were the highlight of our 3 week trip!!

Hi guys!!!

Thanks for remember us, your positive opinion and support.

We will continue in the hard labour to present to the rest of the planet this region of Matarraña / Matarranya here in this little corner of Teruel.

We send you, and of course all our friends and customers from Tripadvisor, a smile from Pablo, kisses from Clara and a big hug from me.

Jose
