“Good hotel, friendly with great service”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

I stayed on business and having read the reviews regarding noise I requested a quiet room and i had a nice room at the back of the hotel. The room was spotless, well equipped with great towels! I had a good nights sleep which isn't generally the case for me in hotels on my own.

There is a small car park and the welcome on arrival was first class. The food was good quality, home cooked. They don't serve after 8.30pm but this is made clear on arrival with an alternative venue suggested if you want to eat later.

Breakfast is good with plenty of choice

Its a family run hotel or at least it has that feel and I'd certainly stay again. Great value.

My family and I stayed at this hotel in order to attend a family celebration in a village near Bath. It is convenient, good standards, knowledgeable and helpful staff. We had cafetere and mugs in our room as well as a bottle of water which we can fill from the fountain in the corridor. Breakfast was excellent, included fresh fruit and plenty of choice. Shower is excellent. Will go back to this hotel in the future

Room Tip: Room 17 is big has a settee but a small window

Tuesday 27th May - Arrived at the Grasmere Court at almost 9 pm and was told that dinner had finished 20 minutes ago, so we went off to find something to eat after dropping off the bags.
Without damning a hotel I feel I have little choice.....
I was on the top floor and found it very difficult to move around the eaves without bashing my head (too much). The kettle was only accessible on my knees! All of that was liveable with as the room was reasonably clean and bed reasonably comfy.
But on the other side...
The quality of the double glazing was so poor that the traffic could be heard until about 1 am and it kicked off again at 5 am and this was with the windows firmly shut. Not much sleep!
The hot water in the sink was not hot and was only a trickle.
Finally, the remote control was so encrusted with the dead skin of previous occupants that I refused to handle it.
The staff were very nice except the lady at breakfast who forgot 1 item (the egg!!!) of my 3 item breakfast order, and then it was my fault .......?
Sorry but I really will not be back!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

Thank you for your feedback, we keep an eye on all our reviews to keep improving our hotel and service. We are glad to hear that you were pleased with staff and the cleanliness of the hotel, the remote control has since been dusted.
As a family run hotel we are unable to keep the kitchen open 24 hours a day like a chain hotel and do not see 6-8.30pm as an unreasonable time for evening meals, especially as there are several pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
The room you stayed in is on the top floor and there is not much we can do about the eaves in the building, the tea and coffee making facilities are located on or near a desk that can be used to prepare drinks, being on your knees is not really necessary.
We take your comment about the taps on board and are in the process of getting taps that can be left to run, so that you can get hot water at a decent pressure faster. We will also investigate the windows to reduce the noise from the road outside.
Had you voiced your concerns at the time we would have been happy to have helped you with them, we may well have had another room that could have suited you better.

We wanted to stay in Bath but couldn't get any where at a reasonable price so we end up in the Grasmere which is really only 15 minutes away. This is a nice family run hotel with parking and a restaurant. We had both dinner and breakfast which were good for the price we paid. The place was clean and furnished to an acceptable level so all in all a good place to stay. The towels are great! We would recommend this place.

This was a nice place to stay, rooms a bit dated but clean. Staff were great, helped us out a lot.
Cycling Lands End to John O Groats. Stored our bikes for us, allowed us to wash all our kits.
Food was good and pleasant bar. Within easy reach of Bath. Used park and ride £2.50 return on the bus. Brilliant.

The only small thing that detracted from our 2-night stay was the size of the room. It was difficult to move around with our luggage on the floor plus two easy chairs. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay - breakfast was plentiful and the service excellent, bed was comfy and the room was well equipped and clean and the management were very helpful.

Positives - Room was big,bed was very comfortable, bathroom was modern & superb, staff were friendly and the windows opened properly for good ventillation.
Negaties - Breakfast was very slow and the sausage was an awful catering econo-sausage. No bedside table or easy chair in bedroom.
