We did not go in because of reading many reviews. Instead chose to cycle, with our bikes, around the gardens. They charged us 3.00 Euros to ride our own bikes into the garden area, along with the admission to the gardens, which made admission way too costly for what you get. This was our first chateau so we didn't know any better. Skip this one and go to Cheverny and Chambord. Not worth the money, unless the inside is somehow spectacular.

We understand that the price seems expensive.
But it allows us to maintain, to restore and to pay our employees. Without it, we couldn't open the castle.

Our castle cannot be compared with castles such as Cheverny or Chambord. They are different. Beauregard is a family castle, small-dimension, for a restricted and intimate public.

Have a nice day.

what an odd chateau. The portrait gallery is interesting as was the walled garden.. Is very expensive when compared to the other big chateaux as limited rooms are open and apart from the walled garden there is little to see.(12.50 euro).
It is really odd as there are huge contemporary photos of dogs (and cat) placed on walls in rooms where they have tapesteries and old furniiture. The pics are around 1 m square and there are lots and lots of them packed in....very odd.Certainly detracts from the ambiance. Go see the Chateau Moulin instead...much more interesting
.

The castle price can seem to be expensive, but it allows us to maintain and to open our castle to the public. We have no help of the State for the management.
The dogs exhibition is link between the animal and the man. The place that the animal in front of his master can set, it can become his equal. That is why here dogs are to present in portrait. Because the art of portrait was an art reserved for humans;

Easy access is available for Chambord, Cheverny and Beauregard from the handy bus that completes this circuit, meaning you can see them all in a day.

The Beauregard is a nice tidy chateau, that's worth a quick stop. Don't expect to be wowed by Beauregard after seeing Chambord, but hey it's on the way home anyway. Don't include in your Loire itinerary if you are short on time.

We have been to a number of chateaux throughout France, and have never been as disappointed as we were by Beauregard..... Particularly after being to Cheverny in the morning. Which, by the way, costs three dollars less for a spectacular place to visit. Beauregard is run down, the gardens are dried up, the "lawn" is a hayfield that was being cut by a tractor. To get to the chateau you have to travers a " meadow", snake your way through the overgrown gardens, and walk up the pebbled driveway.... About half a mile in total. The rooms are interesting, but for some odd reason, the owners have decided to cover extensive area of the walls with huge pictures of dogs' faces..... Each to his own, but an odd response to Cheverny's hunting dog pack?? The hall of pictures is interesting if one is a real serious French history buff.

Bottom line, there are 30 better chateaux at a much better price within 20 miles.

In one word.....formidable. The approach along an avenue of such grandeur makes you appreciate the scale and expanse of the chataeu. However,it comes as a surprise when you arrive to see its modest structure. there is a cool and restrained style evident without the exuberance of early Renaissance. I wish i could fly over the complex to appreciate the green swarth surrounding it.
