We spent 8 nights in Penzion Kovarna during harsh winter at the break of January and February. We are amateur country skiers and this a place to go if you need a good base for exploration of Jeseniky mountains. The owner - Mr Sekula - is a person who takes care of the nearby cross country tracks and one of the trails starts just in front of the Penzion. And there's a separate room at the Kovarna, where you can leave your skis and boots for drying.
Our room (no 7) was quite large, but with oblique walls, that can make life a bit harder for tall persons. The same for the bathroom. Room looks good, plenty of space in wardrobe to pack your clothes. Comfortable bed, no problems with central heating during freezing nights. Our bathroom (no window) was bit dim, some additional light would be a good idea. Small table is quite handy for keeping your food and drinks. Breakfasts included in price of the room are decent value - varied although we would welcome a warm dish served every day. Anyway the breakfasts are giving you energy for the active day. The hosts are very hospitable, generally we cannot complain about service.
If you get there by car there's a free parking in front of the penzion. There's also a restaurant on-site. We used to come down there for our evening meals and generally it's very good choice although bit pricier than the other restaurants we visited in Jeseniky mountains. The room price is quite OK for the standard you're getting. In general it's a highly recommended place.
