“A great place”
Reviewed 16 November 2012

I stayed here on business for one night. When I arrived, I was greeted with lots of smiles. It is a old coaching house which doubles up as a Chinese Restaurant. My room was of a good size and very clean. You could see the footprints of the bed in the carpet where the bed had been moved repeatedly to clean behind - always a good sign. I ate in the bar and had a very tastey Chinese meal and then enjoyed a few glasses of wine and a chat to the owners - lovely people. Would definitely come here again.

The Plough Inn is indeed a very old hostelry set in picturesque surroundings.
John and Mary, the owners were delightful. We had booked one night but enjoyed
being there so much we stayed another.
The cobbled courtyard, the quirky interior, the very comfortable and clean rooms
we stayed in were exactly right as a pleasant stopover on our journey.
Excellent breakfast tasty authentic Asian dinner.
I suggest you spend a little more and upgrade to the converted barn bedroom.
Great value for money, incredibly quaint village and only a few minutes drive to
Oxford. A fabulous old city with so many places to view.
Could have happily stayed much longer but schedule would not permit.
We had some business to attend to as well and with John's help we were able
to do so.
I had lost my toothbrush at the last moment, Mary gave me a new one.
That's the kind of service which, to me, suggests, at the least, a 4*.
First class service, delightful, well furnished room, super clean and gorgeous
setting.
I wish them well.

Room Tip: The converted barn, big room, big bathroom, patio doors opening onto cobbled courtyard.

All of the staff were very friendly and always made us feel welcome. Rooms were of a reasonable size, complete with two comfortable chairs. Food was good, breakfasts were done exactly as you wanted and they even asked if you wanted any more. The Chinese meals, only, could have been a drawback if staying there longer but were fine for our weekend stay..

Restaurant review only. Booked a table for two on a wednesday night. Probably another 3 or 4 tables of diners so a quiet evening. The food was really good. My friend is vegetarian and a good choice of dishes for her. Service was quick and polite. Had a drink in the bar afterwards but it was completely deserted and felt a bit like we were keeping them up!!!

The rating refers to customer service only.

A year ago we have a really nice meal with great service.
Thought that we would take a look at the menue on their website ,this is advertised outside the inn on a large board as being www.ploughinns.co.uk .and then to visit for a evening meal.
Went home and tried to find their web site.
No luck so rang the inn and the person who answered the phone was most unhelpful and did not seem to know or care.
I went past the inn this morning and checked that I had recorded the web site correctly then tried again to find it.
The only way I suppose that I am going to see it is by visiting.
Whether this is a cunning marketing ploy I do not know, but it does emphasise the value of good staff.

A quaint B&B located near Oxford and Abingdon. Very friendly owners, you definitely feel at home immediately. The rooms are large & clean. Free WiFi, good beers on tap, very good Chinese restaurant on the premise and a full breakfast. Overall an excellent place to stay.
