The Plough Inn

When we could not rouse anyone momentarily when we arrived, we began to be skeptical, but once we met our hosts and were shown to our rooms, all was delightful. A canopy bed drew me into the room and at once I felt restful. It is an old timbered Inn which does need a few cobwebs blown away from the walls, but somehow none of that mattered as the worries of the day were swept away. We ate at the Barley Mow nearby and were very happy with our meals and it was a pleasant stroll to get there. We pre-ordered our breakfast and it came hot and we were very pleased. I do not think you could go wrong here.

Stayed for just one night over the Bank Hol weekend, we were in one of rooms around the back of the main building. It was good sized room with plenty of room with a large en suite with shower, the bed was lovely and comfortable. My only small complaint would be that in several places it needed a good clean, the mirror on the dresser was really dusty and the carpet was quite grubby around the doorways. The owners were very friendly and breakfast in the morning was brought out quickly and was very nice.

Room Tip: I think the rooms in the separate building with 4 poster beds seem to be much nicer!

We booked a room here recently when we were travelling around the area
At the time it was the last room available .... And had a 4poster bed!
We arrived to find our room was one of 3 situated in a cottage type building as side of main building This was excellent for us after several days on the road staying in hotels with stairs which made heaving luggage up difficult ! This was great ... Just had to wheel it in ... All on the ground floor So I would advise people who prefer a ground floor room to bear this in mind although the owner did say they would always help with luggage .
We preordered our breakfast which was cooked to our requested time and was very good
The room was also very comfortable with ensuite shower room There was a good size a TV and tea making facilities
As evening meals were not available the owners recommended the
nearby (5mins) Chef and Brewer..... The meal and service here were also good
Lovely old place and would certainly stay again if we are in the area
Thankyou to the owners !

Stayed overnight at weekend. Very welcoming hosts and the room was a good size. Bed was very comfortable and the same goes for pillows. Breakfast was hearty and hot - so no complaints there!! In a nice spot - not too much traffic - so all in all a nice spot to spend a night.

After arriving on a dark and windy night it was great to be given a friendly welcome at the Plough. The room was very spacious and the bed quite comfortable. The place did seem a bit rough around the edges though and the decor needed an update.

Also, I wasn't sure whether it was just because it was a Thursday night but the pub & restaurant seemed to have closed down; to get some food they directed me to another pub down the road which wasn't exactly the most convenient after having expected a restaurant there. On subsequent inspection they've got a new website since my visit which makes it clear they no longer serve food.

The breakfast was nice and the staff again were happy to please. Probably a bit too expensive for what it was but nice all the same.
