We stayed here as we were attending a family wedding in the village and were told this was the only accomodation available. The website says the accomodation is part of the pub, but it really is not. When we arrived at the pub to say we were staying there, the lady behind the bar simply said "no you are not" and directed us down the road. The accomodation itself could be described as 'Juvenile Detention Chic'. It appears to be a converted council block of flats. The front door is left open and unlocked at all times. Our room was on the first floor and was quite dark, with low ceilings. The en suite shower room was very hard to move around in as was so small, and it had been cleaned to a minimal level - there was a used soap left in the shower.
We would definitely not stay there again, I would recommend to anyone who needs to stay near the village that they stay somewhere else and travel in. We paid £55 per night b & b which wouldn't be too bad if the accomodation wasn't so poor.
We are sorry to give a bad review, this is the first one we have ever given (all my other reviews have been very postive!) , but we feel that the website does not reflect the accomodation and it is only fair that people know what to expect when booking.

The Red Lion is a proper old style pub but with all the modern things such as a good sized covered smoking area, beer garden, hi-tech juke box and pool table. I stayed with a colleague for 4 nights. The room was a ground floor triple in the purpose built modern block a minutes walk from the pub. The room was ensuite but the bathroom was very small with shower, toilet and sink all within touching distance from the door. A metal tray for toiletries over the sink made teeth cleaning a trickier task as you couldn't just spit into the sink you had to lean around. BUT these are petty things. In general the room served our purposes. Lots of light, windows on two sides that opened and had both blinds and curtains for privacy , very comfy single beds and more than enough wardrobe and drawer space. We were unable to try the evening meals as we were not back before 8.00pm, final serving but we did have breakfast.. Orange juice, choice of cereals, toast with jam, marmite, etc and a full english breakfast. And all served by the wonderful landlady Janet. She and her husband weree excellent hosts and made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. We did avail ourselves of the bar later on and once again found very friendly staff and excellent beer. Olde Trip in my case! There were lots of events on - darts, poker, pool, auunt sally, and a music festival on the Saturday after we left. There is a paper shop five minutes walk away that also sells snacks. We would definitely go again on business and agreed we would use it as a stopping point or central stay for a look around the area. Room for improvement? Bigger flat screen TV with more channels. Offer of a morning paper. The other would require remodelling - a bigger bathroom.
