Pianaura Suites-la Torre Tra Le Vigne
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We probably would agree with most of the complimentary things which have already been said about Pianaura but you have to put things into the context of your own visit and in reality it was not good.
It is expensive to stay there and you do expect a certain standard for the price, and really it is not acceptable that the boss goes off for the weekend and the housekeeper does not service the room at all and after a phone call to Mara he comes back, barely acknowledges us, and still fails to empty the rubbish and leaves the property unlocked to the world after we had been reminded about the importance of security in what is a very isolated location. Indeed we were the only people on site (apart from the dog!) so felt rather
unwillingly a sense of responsibility for the place.
There are too many contradictions here - we have a dining table and a full size refrigerator but no crockery, cutlery or any facilities to prepare food or wash-up and you are politely reminded not to use the breakfast room so how does this work if you want to eat in your suite?
Our complaint was dealt with very fairly and promptly and we believe that with Mara on site it would have been very different but it isn't the point. We had used B&Bs for the week but this was not up to the standard
we had expected. If you want to see Italian B&B at it's best then try the Palazzo Arrivabene in Mantua......now that is exceptional!

Fantastic location among the hills of Valpolicella and amazing views from the suites and gardens. We were very impressed by the design and high standards of Pianaura Suites. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and very well designed with attention to every detail. The stonehouse itself is magnificant. The breakfast as well as the breakfast salon are great. There is a zen inspired and well designed garden with several terraces and lounge areas with breathtaking views over the vinyards. All Valpolicellas vinyards as well as great little restaurants are around the corner. Beautiful also to go for a morning run in the vinyards. The owner Mara took great care of us and we followed her advise regarding restaurants and what to do/see, which all turned out way above our expectations. We had a fantastic time in this beautiful little boutiqe hotel and will be back!

You can't imagine how beautiful is before you had been there! A gorgeous bed and breakfast in the Valpolicella wineyards, totally in a silent and fantastic nature! The garden, the suites, the care in the details, the architecture and the fantastic breakfast are just some of the surprises Mara the owner will reserve for you! You feel more than comfortable, you feel like in paradise!

We have just stayed at the Pianaura suites for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon and completely feel in love with the place. Mara was the perfect host and couldn't of been more helpful with her fantastic tips for beautiful sites and wonderful restaurants. The room was spacious and decorated with exquisite taste. Not even cloudy weather could dampen our experience. Thank you for making out honeymoon so special.

Amazingly beautiful location set on the hills outside Verona and nestled between the vineyards. It's wise checking your maps before setting off, but well worth the effort when you arrive. Not only is the countryside stunning (particularly at night when you see the city in the distance), but the hotel, grounds and service are almost too idyllic for words. I would describe it as the house we would all dream of owning. The room that we stayed in (and there are only two) was like walking into a Vogue magazine shoot. Scrap that, it was probably a bit trendier - think Wallpaper magazine. A pocket of almost London cool in the outskirts of Verona. And you can understandably see the pride in the faces of the couple who own and run this retreat. It's clearly a labour of love and one that I would take over any 5 star hotel in a heartbeat (and we've stayed in a good few). It's also worth mentioning that we took our four month old daughter with us (a trial holiday to see how she took to travelling) and not only was the hotel very welcoming of children, but she adored it. The only downside was that we had a very grumpy daughter for about a week after we left. She clearly would have traded rainy Amsterdam for sunny Italy.

Room Tip: Don't trust your sat nav, there's a lot of unmade roads in the area. Get proper directions b...

We had a marvelous stay at Pianaura. The location is beautiful and it really is a hideaway. Mara's hospitality is second-to-none; she is so smiley, kind and willing to offer a hand when we needed advice on restaurants and places to visit. She welcomed us as if we were family! We stayed half our stay in the lower and half in the upper suite, and can recommend both highly (the shower room in the lower suite is a little more spacious and modern, but the kitchen facilities in the upper suite are better - it depends what you want). The decor in both is wonderful. Beautiful holiday, v. romantic, we would definitely return. P.S. Just to point out there was only an Ipod dock in the upper suite.

I can't even express how special Pianaura Suites is! We just returned and my only regret is that we didn't stay longer or spend enough time sitting in one of the gardens drinking wine. The setting is spectacular- the most beautiful in which we have ever stayed (and we have stayed in many beautiful places in Italy and France). The owners were wonderful hosts. The room was lovely. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We loved the white room with the "glass" bathroom but that is a presonal preference.
