Visited as part of a golf away weekend with the ladies from my club. Great outdoor area for sitting and watching the 18th and 10th holes on one of the courses. Rooms were huge and bed was really comfortable. As per other reviews - desperately needs updating and decorating in a modern style as well as carpets so décor is very 70's however clean and comfortable.

Disappointed there was only 4 disabled car spaces - couldn't get one when we first arrived. For the size of the car-park there should have been more of these. My partner who is not a golfer but came along for the weekend struggles to walk and this was a negative point.

Food was good but huge mansize portions meant a lot of food wastage from our table. Food was good price though as were the drinks. Would have liked a drinks buggy on the course though (there was a halfway house for the Lakes course but not the Valley.

Pars 3's were amazing - very testing but incredible to play.

Nice to have a bathmat in the shower - this is very rare these days but useful for a person with stability issues.

Staff were very attentive and friendly - especially Doris who was very smiley and obviously hardworking!

Breakfast was ok - nothing special and some of the party who came to breakfast later than us complained here were no yogurts or fried eggs out - had to wait a long time for these.

Overall though really comfy, great outdoor space, great courses - well managed and lovely staff who are a credit to the hotel.

12 of us stayed over two wooden lodges from fri to sunday playing golf across both courses. Buffet breakfast was superb bar need good timing to make sure u get a full plate and not have to wait for sausages. Dinner was ordered in morning choosing from a varied 3 course selection. Cabins were clean and comfy generally an excellent venue all round.

We had our wedding here on Friday and from the beginning of booking the venue right until checking out it was perfect. Mitch’s communication was amazing and accommodated any requests I had. On the day Meg was excellent, so friendly, made sure all the timings were correct and did all the swapping items from rooms etc I asked for! Doris was brilliant the night before setting up and taking everything in that I was saying. Nathan was very reassuring, friendly and you could have a laugh with him! All staff were so accommodating.
Guests said how good the food was and how smoothly the whole day went.
Thankyou so much! Don’t hesitate to book any events here x

My husband and I had lunch here in the lounge bar. We chose the Specials menu, which was £13.50 for a main, pud and tea or coffee.

To start with we were served the most delicious hot rolls with butter at no extra charge, whilst we were waiting for our steak and ale pie to be individually cooked. We were not disappointed. A huge plateful of crisp-on-the-outside but soft inside chunky chips arrived, along with a puff pastry steak pie and lots of garden peas. For dessert, I had a generous portion of sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. My husband, although he asked for a small ice cream, was given a large dish of ice cream and cream with fudge and chocolate buttons. We could hardly move!

Lashings of tea completed the meal and the drinks were a reasonable price. We were also given, unasked for, a jug of iced water.

Service was leisurely, which suited us fine. Altogether a most enjoyable experience.

Visited here in June this year
A fabulous facility with great road links to the nearby m1.
I was however disappointed with a few small points.
1. When I asked for a toothpick, after dinner, I was told they didn't have any and was presented with a burger skewer.
2. I asked for sweetners for my morning coffee, to be asked how many would you like. They should be on the table alongside the sugars.
3. Generally the staff were very slow at serving dinner.

A plus though is that the rooms are lovely.

62travelking, thank you for your review and we note you enjoyed your stay overall, although it would seem you have experienced slower service than normal. We have now introduced toothpicks on request, as well as made sweeteners readily available. Every detail matters to us and we thank you for raising these points.
